"...In the 1950s.... the American Can Company, Owens-Illinois Glass Company, Coca-Cola, and the Dixie Cup company got together to design a solution to the growing pressure to regulate disposable packaging. They knew the issue of litter would not go away and was increasingly unpopular with the public, but disposable packaging was incredibly profitable. They needed a way to avoid regulation that might limit the use of disposables, and their solution was cunning.

They founded a nonprofit called Keep America Beautiful and poured significant amounts of money into environmental awareness campaigns. This helped them look good, but the real genius was in the message behind the campaigns - that litter on the streets had nothing to do with the producers, but was the fault of the person who dropped it - the litterbug. Keep America Beautiful managed to shift the entire debate around Americas garbage and litter problems away from the industry and on to consumers, and the strategy has been copied to time and time again since."

Can you touch type?

Had a conversation on here which surprized me - someone said touch typing wasn't as prevelant as I though.

I haven't worked with anyone in the last... I don't know, 30 years? who could not. (That's across 3 countries.) It was taught (and required) in schools (4 different schools systems, 2 different US states) when I was in school (pre-home computers, 10 years before the internet.)

I'd like to know - of the people on the Fediverse, who can touch type?
(That would, I assume, mean people who are typing things somewhat regularly.)

1) I am currently preparing a "Non CloudFlare version" of #InstanceTicker.

2) This version will replace all reference images with dataURIschemes instead of externalURLimages. This will increase the capacity of the CSS.

3) Due to the nature of customCSS, I have decided that all images need to be converted to webp format to optimize size and data volume.

This will take some time to prepare.

To make a website, at least using #webcomponents I highly recommend not using #Safari as your test browser. Seriously they don’t detect some errors that #chromium browser and #firefox . The error messages are more confusing using safari as well.

I probably shouldn't say this because it'll be a jinx, but what are the odds that the #JWST ends up with a flaw comparable to Hubble's mirror? It's had so many setbacks and budget overruns, that it would be a fitting end. However, I'm gonna go knock on wood now, because I want to see the photos that it produces.
