Indeed, #TonyBlair and the whole #BushCrimeFamily can be considered #warCriminals at worst and #usefulIdiots at best.

A #knighthood is *not* acceptable.

We have some extra sad news for you, Patrick. Just last month in December #MorningStarOnline was a shining example, a beacon of a website.

It is now #Cloudflare!

I'm thinking of a new job in 2022. Are you hiring/know someone who is?

Looking for:

- Not evil or dumb. No weapons platforms or web3 nonsense.
- A programming language I like more. Clojure would be great, I'd be up to learn Rust, maybe something else?
- A place that lets engineers use Linux.
- Fully remote. I actually like going into an office, when it's safe. It isn't.

I'm located in Portland, OR, USA.

I spotted this on the Seafront earlier today, probably not the original from the Only Fools and Horses TV series,l but still fun.

I think it's part of the problem. I can see the appeal of Meta: a place like this needs a topography, so you can go visit a forge or a fletcher and see what type of people hang around there.

Generally, I find that there are lots of randoms from no particular type that I think are interesting, and follow them.

Over time, it's like building up a keyring of interesting people... unlocks other doors.

@zleap @thor

I don't think this is possible. They're going to say whatever they want.

I'd stick to core message: we're the anarchistic free zone where people can express themselves without limitation, so you WILL be offended and you WILL get over it shortly ;)

I suggested many chat apps to my friends and they found those hard to use or confusing, finally I suggested Quicksy, they all found it good. So all my friends and family now use #Quicksy to talk to me. Recommend Quicksy today and feel the happiness.

#peertube looking for an instance to host democracynow.org/pages/help/po as we would love to feature it on visionon.tv , we already bring in and host 2 big video archives, so to help decentralize we need another instance to host the big USA alt media shows. Who is up for this?

What is freedom 2? The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor.

@zleap @thor

I don't even think it's that.

The place needs a culture other than "we are fleeing from other places."

It's like early Reddit, lotta nerds and dropouts, dissidents and hermits, but there is no clear idea of how people should interact so it becomes scrolling through lots of tangentially-related activity.

@thor @zleap

I agree, but I think it's cultural also.

There's no overall culture, so people just focus on their own projects, and no one really connects on anything.

It's like the San Francisco airport or something.

@ravi

We say to people "We can be as a good as the proprietary apps." but then gloss over obvious problems.

Quicksay makes signup easy, is distributed, and does contact discovery.

"But make contact discovery non-distributed"- that just leads to centralization and a poor user experience.

If someone is building a service in order to be self-hosted, it should handle basic functionality.

...

@zleap @foxmask @selea the big problem I see is that the people whose job it is to find the 'right people' don't know how to identify a right person. It leads to poor decisions all around.
