Research retrospective for mastodon! Here is the paper that really started it all for my lab. In it, we introduce our extremely weird, but also very useful, way of doing Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectromerty to study rapid protein conformational dynamics.

Since then, we've applied this technique to study #proteinevolution , support drug development in #Alzheimer's and #cancer and to improve #epitopemapping .

@zleap @bestforbritain There is lingering so much uncertainty here in the UK about how people can pay their bills, eat and also keep a roof above their heads. Mental Health problems have gone through the roof. Some uncertainty is okay but uncertainty to even cover basic needs will lead to riots, an increase in criminal activity, substance misuse and suicide. It's a collapse of society. It costs a country more to get people out of poverty than to invest money to prevent it.

I'm slightly cynical about even real life behaviour and I think the only reason people behave OK in some public areas is because of CCTV and others smartphones, and that there's a level beyond which if they push things eventually some authority (security guard/cop) ejects them from the space they are in - and even then there are those who will misbehave directly under cameras. But encouragement to behave well needs to come from peer groups as well as outside authorities..

@zleap @bestforbritain that's what I was saying when everyone started clapping every Thursday like a seal on speed. I didn't participate I demanded higher pay for the NHS staff. Gosh, here in Cornwall where I live they turned it into a party by playing loud music outside and drinking lots of alcohol and dancing. It was surreal and I found it very disrespectful. And this government who clapped is denying now proper wages for nurses. It makes me so angry. 😕

Health Secretary Steve Barclay says nurses voting to strike UK-wide - for the first time in history - is "disappointing".

You know what's really disappointing?

Clapping for frontline heroes then not paying them properly.

Refusing to give NHS staff a pay rise in line with inflation for 12 years.

Nurses relying on food banks.
