@fribbledom I can guess at things, but that's all it would be. I have read a lot about how it works, and what to do to get your stuff where you want it. I am just not sure it is worth the effort as the consumer. I get disheartened when some model follows me and she has 1 post and 2000 followers, while i was busting it to get content out and struggle around 200...

@fribbledom it's called algorithmic timestamping or something like that. IT guesses what you are interested in so that you can be better targetted with advertisement. That is one of the concepts sought to be overcome by the federated systems.

What you are describing is very possible. It just isn't what you have/are a part of.

If spinster de-federeates from other instances, and other instances de-federate away from spinster. Then you will have a closed space for only the people who are on spinster.

I hope spinster doesn't get silenced from us, but if they do it is not just about one petty person getting hurt feelings. But I am not looking for a fight on this so if you disagree that's okay too.

@Genie@spinster.xyz @alex @freemo @Surasanji That's called an echo chamber. It is kind of the opposite of federation in that you would never hear or see any opinion but your own. I assume there is a place for such things, I just don't personally see the value in it myself as I am for the free and open exchange of ideas. However, if you are looking to build something like that, all that is required is to de-federate all the instances that aren't 100% in agreement with whatever your instance(in general) stance happens to be. There are closed instances that just contain one business or family or whatever and can certainly create that "support group" environment. I don't believe that was the goal of Spinster, though I don't pretend to speak for them.

I would rather see a playground where both the boys and girls could play together and no one has to stay on the pink side or the blue side and play with gender appropriate toys.

@freemo found the delete. So I started over. I redid the import, and now I am doing the mirror/pull with default settings. Let's see what it does in a minute or two
