@freemo @JonKramer It's a Blowback System so the barrel doesn't have to move around. It's really just Newtonian Physics.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. An object at rest tends to stay at rest until acted upon by an external force.

The large mass of the slide holds the chamber closed until the inertia overcomes the mass accelerating it rearward until it reaches the end of travel and the recoil spring sends it back to the closed position. The mass has to be calculated based on the round it fires. If the mass is too small, the chamber will open up before it is safe to do so and might cause injury.

Whether it's the simplest gas piston system is another topic. The only issue I've ever had with a blowback system is in a 22lr pistol. Lead subsonic ammo didn't cycle correctly. In a full sized rifle I've loaded 22 short, 22 long and 22LR in a stacked magazine. 22 short would cycle the bolt enough to chamber 22LR or 22L. I assume this was due to barrel length and the amount of pressure not being too far off to work. A surprisingly flexible system but it could have been the 22in barrel that helped balance the equation.

If a DE is not cycling properly it should be cleaned and inspected by a Gunsmith. It's likely that the round isn't powerful enough or the magazine isn't feeding correctly. In most semiautomatics and automatics, the magazine is going to be an issue. With the recoil energy of the DE, it's not surprising that it could cause a regular magazine to misfeed.

@freemo H&K G3A3 and a Beretta M92FS with the competition barrel and trigger.

I love precision but it's good to see what other countries can do.

If you could afford any gun, what handgun, and what rifle would you get?

@black6_ @freemo @jlcrawf I hope you aren't referring to the Millennium pistol they made. It just wasn't designed for 9mm +p.

A 1911A1 is usually on the nightstand next to a bible and an 870.

@gat @freemo I think they take a special load of 410 in the Judge. I've always wanted one because it is mostly a snake gun. If the wadding material is used correctly it should help to prevent contact with the rifling.

Assuming that this is the case, it's still firing a shotgun shell without a 22in barrel. Snake shot is really weird. I've got some 38spl and 22mag rounds of snake shot. It reminds me of Dexedrine but a projectile.

Assuming that one decides to use the self defense 410 rounds made for it along with the 45 Colt rounds, that could be rather effective. The soft recoil of the 45 is rather deceptive in that it can be as effective as a 44 magnum.

The revolver is rather robust so instead of reloading it can be used to bash skulls in.

@thor I have noticed this too. In IT my boss had an Apple Watch and I was surprised what he used it for. He used that watch for the NFC capability to unlock controlled areas. We were still using the latest Mifare cards but it was decided we needed more encryption. Essentially they swapped to smartphone and smartwatch authentication which is a rather robust solution.

I opened the same doors with a screwdriver. Sometimes it pays to be a Locksmith.

Creating a "defconfig" Build Configuration for Apache RTOS ... Thanks to Alan C. Assis! 👍

@lore I remember an interview with A Guy Called Gerald where he used at least two 101s, a few 303s and an 808 for Voodoo Ray. He described how they would just make it work and went on to say, in essence, that computers make it much easier.

For some applications, Acid, the amount of equipment required is absolutely absurd when chasing those unique sounds. Yeah there's still a demand for the equipment and last I checked there are parts kits for making them. The kits were designed by people wanting that sound and honestly that's the only way to get one anywhere near affordable.

So I see someone learning how to build a synthesizer but not using ancient tech to do it. That's fantastic and congratulations on your progress.

It might not sell very well because it's not made with parts from the 80s nor is it every synthesizer ever made but new. It seems like a difficult product to sell.

To keep the same theme, it makes sense to make it expandable. A cheap tablet with a minimal OS could add even more capability to it but so would an SBC.

@amerika @thor Roman roads have no purpose anymore and хрущёвка are superior in many ways to traditional housing. They are very inexpensive, make people use the stairs and promote a communal atmosphere.

@thor It is a Subtropical climate that's closer to the equator. The radiation from the sun damages skin and it's a very humid environment. If it is near a large port, cargo ships have been linked to respiratory issues.

@lore Might as well put the cheapest tablet available in it, run a custom OS trimmed to only useful features and have that to interface with the device.

The tablet has a decent SoC with decent features. Midi support is standard and reconfiguration could be done with a simple menu. Yeah it's added cost but the value added would be significant. One would no longer have to interface with a microcontroller if they don't want to. All the regular functionality could bypass the tablet and go to its own MIDI port.

As long as the tablet runs a custom OS, it should allow for an even more flexible platform. Having the tablet one and the pure one essentially the same would keep prices lower while attracting different buyers. Perhaps the second model should have that option.

@thor Open a window?

Maybe perfume should have emissions standards too.
