@freemo @LouisIngenthron There was also the jab that the previous presidency had seen. Both presidents supported the jab. The first real field test, protected against harm to individuals and shoved through the FDA.
I can understand the benefits of testing technology on the public but it didn't have to tank our economy.
We’re incredibly fortunate that #PinePhone’s Touchscreen runs OK with Apache #NuttX RTOS

@lore It's more an issue of Licensing than anything else. If a properly licensed software was sold, it could be compiled on the different operating systems. Companies are greedy and they don't want their precious code to be free. God forbid developers having to innovate at a rate that affects the profit.
@thendrix Lemmy from Motorhead had the answer.
@thor FreeBSD.
@freemo The 2011 is a pistol. I don't have experience with them but I haven't heard much about them that was positive.
The HiPower is very close.
@AmpBenzScientist Not sure I know that saying...
@freemo It's an expression used in the deep south for the implied ability to hit the head of a nail with a round.
@freemo The stock trigger gives me anxiety with the length of the squeeze. It takes a magazine for me to get used to it again.
If you want to get weird, try a full size Hi-Point and see what you can do with it. The results might surprise you. The trigger sucks (feels like a piezoelectric igniter) and grabbing it with two hands can make the magazine drop because of the release button location. The recoil has weird characteristics too.
Just don't fall in love, she can only take a single stack. Also don't keep it near a cordless drill. Perhaps I have almost drilled the wrong size hole but caught myself when the cordless drill felt less ergonomic than usual.
@freemo About ready to hammer nails in aren't ya?
@garyackerman In STEM fields we have. It's still refreshing to see Weight in Kilograms and Celsius called the Metric metric for measuring Temperature.
Something about Mass and something about 273.15 degrees. Maybe having to keep track of two different systems has been beneficial in that we don't trust measurements. Some Americans are familiar with the Metric System thanks to drugs or weapons.
It could be considered part of our system of Checks and Balances. The Judicial, The Executive, The Legislative, The 5th Column, SAE and Metric System keep (Representative) Democracy mostly free (from decisions).
@thor The Doctor said that was the most erect she had ever seen me. Apparently it was the wrong medication but the compliment made me feel better.
@freemo I like to keep the chamber clear if I'm around any firearms as I still have nights where I sweat through sheets and wake up in an agitated state. No formal diagnosis for reasons related to employment.
@freemo The 9mm would penetrate thin steel better as 45acp has really poor performance in penetration. German helmets with the funny insignia would be penetrated by 9mm and the 45acp would just leave a big ass dent with blunt force trauma.
22lr fired from a standard rifle at 100 yards was the standard for determining the maximum effective range of a round. That energy at 100 yards was deemed to be the least amount of energy that could kill. 22lr is still quite deadly considering that it's likely never going to be just a single round that hits.
9mm Parabelem, used against minorities since its introduction. A proud tradition that still exists to this day. 45ACP, designed to put people down with a single round back when men fought with bare fists. 10mm, The round that defeated the pistols it was fired from.
@thor The egg came first followed by a truck crashing into a Taco Bell and then the DUI.
@thor Norwegians don't say much compared to Swedes but they convey more with less words. That's just been my experience interacting in American English.
The Swedes do seem to have less of an accent with a more colorful vocabulary. IE, Norwegians are better Engineers and Swedes are better for selling things. Also Norwegians seem to speak their mind instead of dicking around with useless pleasantries. It's very respectable.
@freemo @Hawk1291 That's odd about the 45LC. That was the first pistol caliber I shot and at 11 it wasn't uncomfortable. It was fired from a Single Action Army style revolver so all the mass was likely the reason.
Same day as I got introduced to the AR-15 in the form of a Bushmaster. I remember that both were oddly comfortable to shoot for an adolescent.
Oddly enough, I didn't like 9mm at first because of how quickly the barrel rises but it's just part of getting used to a new caliber.
Perhaps it is just based on my experience with long rifles. It's not love unless it leaves a bruise and a little tenderness the day after.
