@robryk a banana socket? That is weird then, lol
@robryk I'm not sure what the piece is. If it's an electronic that could potentially go into a product, then it makes sense. It lures hobbyists(who are often the developers and engineers) into trying out their product, then the profit is made when they decide to scale up a little bit if they liked it.
Idk if that's what's going on here though, I don't even know what the product is.
@valleyforge there's been multiple strains of COVID since it started spread, and there are a growing number of people who have had it more than once. The vaccine would likely protect against multiple strains due to the protein that it gets sensitized to. I bet he'll take it, though maybe not publicly.
@robryk it's common among web apps and SaaS btw
@robryk it's a business strategy. I bet the profit margins for the lowest tiers are too narrow to be useful, but is used to get initial customers.
@SirSpencer but Biden won
@KayPengwin everyone has a different perspective, that's what makes reading different authors so great. To cater to everyone is to cater to the Lowest Common Denominator.
@pony and I haven't seen a cartoon with a white boy in a central role since 2015. C'est la vie.
@air_pump thanks! The fact that they work with the Linux laptop and still say the hostname tells me that it is likely still something in the firmware. The hostname is probably relayed to the headset when building the Bluetooth connection.
Looks like Bose has obfuscated their firmware update executable using UPX(Ultimate Packer for eXecutables) so goobers like me can't snoop as easily. Shame :(
@air_pump what do they connect to? Iphone? And what's the earpiece model? I kinda want to look into it now, lol.
@air_pump oh. That is probably buried in the firmware of the device. I think you'd need to either record it with a really good microphone held to the earpiece, or maybe extract the audio file from the firmware if you can get a hold of it(good luck if you do this).
@air_pump what do you mean by this? You mean the audio output from your device to your Bluetooth?
@tithonium that's why it's recommended to have an emergency fund that can pay for at least 6 months of typical expenses. Any larger than that, and a hospital is typically happy to set up a payment plan.
Also bankruptcy only lasts for 7 years so if it's REALLY big, it won't necessarily follow you for life.
'Murica.
@climagic this doesn't always capture everything all the time btw. I've used a chromebook with debian that had a mapping of /dev/mmcblk*
What are the downsides of this, I wonder? It's pretty cheap to apply.
@lolitasyndrome @jeff@pl.i2p.rocks wrt. mandatory reporting, if you're in the US, therapists need specific information in order to report. https://www.stopitnow.org/ohc-content/when-must-a-therapist-file-a-report
wrt. the ticking time-bomb, you may be right about that. I may have been too harsh. But you were staying publicly that you were a MAP, which is embracing atypical social norms. That threw me for a loop and made me think you might embrace other norms like carrying out your fantasies. Hell, your profile pic is two girls kissing.
wrt. peer support, I have looked into the effect of social media and its design on culture, identity formation, and deviancy. On a social network that allows for anonymity and that doesn't bring immediate negative reenforcement for deviant posts(like this one), identities can form behind groups that superficially look good, but are actually damaging to themselves and society. None of the social feedback loops that happen in person and keep zealots out exist here, so you would end up with a culture that embraces the fringes of the group, including those who accept child sex, child porn, etc.
@korewatsumi any sexual interaction between an adult and minor is legally considered sexual abuse. It's such actions that the link I gave discussed, and are encapsulated in those statistics.
They may "consent" at the time, but the brain regions involved with executive functioning aren't fully developed, so such interactions can lead to developmental issue and emotional conflicts after quite some time. That's why they can't legally consent.

When we see something on the news that we know about, we always think "That's not right!" We then forget about that and believe everything else we see.
