Combining inference & mechanistic modelling, we reveal that cells adapt protrusion & polarity dynamics in constrictions: confinement leads to activation of positive feedback in polarity!

#introduction post! My name is Sonia Roberts (she/her) and I'm a postdoc at Northeastern University developing knitted sensors that could be used to make soft, fully knitted robots. My PhD work was on legged robots running around in the desert -- and if you've ever gone on a beach run, you know why that's hard. I have also done some science and technology policy work. I like to learn about what's going on in other fields so I try to follow a lot of academics in different areas!
The image processing *really* struggled with her tail here!
She's off to the vets tomorrow. Hoping for better looking bloods, a clean ultrasound and, all going well, spaying being done.
(not getting a better picture today, she's in a "no cameras, please" mood and blapping me for any photo attempts)

@TropDePieds@mastodon.lol she's in her little bedroom (a storage box under the bed, hiding behind throws) but I'll try and get pictures when she's wanting food or attention.
We had a bit of a scare recently with her pre-anaesthesia bloods taken before being spayed. So the operation was called off and she's away to see the vet again tomorrow. Hopefully it goes better, the ultrasound is okay and she can get her op!

Yeah, there are definitely some parasocial relationship issues being promulgated over on Twitter. I'm not quite sure it's as a bad as Twitch, which feels awful with the monetisation push for friendliness, but there are definitely a lot of in-group influences that have allowed niches (gender critical for example) to draw people in and keep them hooked.
