@JasonPerseus Agreed. More responsible adults should shoulder such a burden. We may not always be able to wait for someone else to save us.

@tehuti88 Who "told [you] to just take Trump's word for literally everything"? They sound like an idiot.

@Waitnwallflower I mean, you could look at the new poll today that shows Trump up 6 points after the debate.

Those aren't democrats defecting.

@Waitnwallflower That's just not how the middle of the country sees it. And we need them to win.

@Waitnwallflower Of course he is. But he doesn't need to GOTV in the middle. He just needs to depress turnout enough that the slanted nature of the electoral college delivers him a victory.
Moreover, against all odds he managed to be much more coherent than Biden during the debate.
This is a serious danger, not something we can just "vote harder" to get past.

@Waitnwallflower That would be an uphill battle with a functioning candidate. With a faltering one, it's quixotic.

@n8 I strongly disagree with that assessment.

The very fact that anyone would still want to search it is proof that it drives traffic to Musk's site. For a site that lives on attracting eyeballs to user content, the idea that deleting user content wouldn't have a negative effect on the platform is ludicrous.

You may find it disappointing that people don't want to host their content on a site that enriches a shitty human being, but maybe you should blame the shitty human being for that, not the decent people who are rebuking him.

@Waitnwallflower Why? We don't think he can take us past the finish line, so we're appealing to his better nature to pass the torch to someone who can beat Trump.

It's either that or just sit back and watch Trump kick Biden's declining ass.

@Waitnwallflower The problem isn't that liberals are considering voting for Trump because Biden sucked at the debate.

The problem is that Biden's inability to articulate his positions could cause him to fail to GOTV from the middle and lead to a Trump presidency.

We're not criticizing him because we're considering switching to Trump; we're criticizing him because we want to avoid a Trump presidency!

@rooster@chaosfem.tw Here's one that nobody else will probably suggest:

Shadow Complex

Normalize saying “No, I don't want to have a call, but I'm happy to discuss this over email at our respective leisure."

I know it’s trite, but boy oh boy not everything has to be a Zoom or, god forbid, a Teams call.

Before you ask for one, ask yourself: is there anything in the discussion that *requires* it being real-time and blocking off an hour of everyone's day?

This'll ruffle folks that prefer phone calls, I know, but the world contains multitudes.

🧵 maybe, I don't know.

@Aminorjourney We already are. The concern is that the other one isn't up to the task of making sure the fascist doesn't get in. That's why there's talk of replacing him now.

It is not concerned voters’ fault that the Democratic candidate seemingly might keel over and die at any given moment.

No amount of yelling, dismissing, or gaslighting is going to change that.

We all get the stakes, but no one is addressing the legitimate issues that might lose us the election by failing a threshold competency question for voters.

“Don’t panic” isn’t doing anything when driving full speed at a cliff. The counter-hysteria is just as hysterical.

@ZachWeinersmith As a game developer who is intimately familiar with the concept of "emergent gameplay", hell yes. Everything about intelligence just seems to be made up of many simple rules interacting in complex ways.
