This is actually kind of funny. If the GOP just had enough integrity to disavow an alleged child molester, there's a pretty good chance they'd still have enough unity to be able to pass House votes.

“The fact that nothing has come of it has kind of astonished her, who along with all the others had been the focal point of such an intense investigation,” the woman’s lawyer said. “For them to go through all that and then for the target of the investigation to just get a wink and a nod has created for some of them a loss of faith in the system.”

@LouisIngenthron Not at all. Nebulas do look different in X-ray and other spectrums, and **some** nebula are uninteresting in visible light. But all the famous nebulas more or less are quite beautiful to the naked eye.
See this post from my blog for a picture of the great nebula in orion using visible light only (also attached)
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that governments asking tech companies to provide encryption backdoors violates human rights.
This is awkward as various European countries are trying to pass laws mandating exactly that. Hopefully this is one more nail in the coffin.

Better be willing to be surveilled, say Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr and Deputy AG John Fowler, or you're a criminal.
Protest is a First Amendment right. Carr is trying to squelch protest against a new military police training facility by trying protesters under RICO. He must not have much else if "didn't have any data on their phone" is all the state has on Ayla King.
It would be terrible not just for these defendants though, but as precedent for all of us.

Attempts to limit non-legal-adults' access to social media should be reflexively rejected like book banning is, and like Frederic Wertham's comic book panic was before. It's all about restricting their access to information.
If there was a button that could sum up your entire life up to this moment and, if the totality of your deeds were net-positive good, give you a better high than any drug and $1,000,000, but if your deeds were net-negative bad, it would put you in excruciating pain and empty your bank accounts... but you wouldn't know which result you'd get until after pressing it...
Would you press it?
