Just once I'd like to see a #Batman movie where he falls thirty stories with two innocent lady scientists clutching him and just at the last moment, he fires his grappling gun up, it latches onto an appropriately gothic beam, the line goes taut, and Batman's fucking arm is ripped clean off in a cloud of blood and viscera because that's what happens when you fuck with the laws of physics.

Bingo. The trick, as it turns out, is to start with an octahedron (although any uniform polyhedra should work, including a cube, but an octahedron just requires a point on each axis, so it's easiest to spawn). Since you want a uniform, edgeless surface, you need to start with one. Can't build it outwards like you can in a bounded 2D volume, so you have to build it inwards.

If I want to disagree with someone who is an expert in a related field, I would be much better off quote tooting. That's a way to register my informed disagreement for my own followers and branch the conversation to a place where the original author has far less of an obligation to reply; whereas a direct, public reply would be seen more as egging on the OP or (if they're a woman) even "mansplaining".

Yet another idea that I prototyped and abandoned because I couldn't afford to pursue it.

Couldn't find a #Delaunay triangulation implementation that could do what I needed it to in C#, so I wrote my own.

Got a 2D proof of concept working in just a couple hours with nothing more than a skim of the wikipedia article on the math, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Just need to expand it to work on a spherical surface now, which should be an interesting challenge.
