Writers and artists demand a moral imperative to support them as creatives and artisans, while happily buying mass produced bread, shoes, and furniture, and without demanding a similar support for artisan bakers, cobblers, and carpenters. This unacknowledged discrepancy speaks to a degree of snobbishness about how their craft is elevated and more quintessentially human than that of other artisans. #AI https://www.aaronrosspowell.com/p/ai-new-sliced-bread
Today, at work, my sister was engaged in casual work conversation. Someone asked "why don't they just hold TikTok liable for what is posted there."
The years of me wedging discussion of §230(c)(1) into conversation with her suddenly had effect. She knew the answer to the question. A simulated version of me that existed only in her mind guided her through the conversation.
The answer was sufficiently delivered. My work is done.
The potentially finite nature of our universe also makes me think about Isaac Asimov's "The Last Question".
If you haven't read it, I strongly suggest you do:

Well, that's existentially terrifying, because it (at least to my understanding) suggests that the infinite may be finite after all...

"I know this guy who hasn't started any successful businesses, but did light forty billion dollars on fire to buy one!"
"Perfect!"

What the fuck? She's been dead less than four years and people are already trying to get her to roll over in her grave.
"This year’s RBG Awards will go to entrepreneur Elon Musk, actor and filmmaker Sylvester Stallone, lifestyle expert Martha Stewart, philanthropist Michael Milken and media mogul Rupert Murdoch."
WTF? So many questions.
When #programming, I always make it a point to try to dummy-proof my code.
I do this, not for my clients and bosses, but rather for me-six-months-from-now, who is a giant dummy.
