I create a lot of things to make teaching easier and more efficient for myself, and then I share the ones that work. I created this spreadsheet for grouping my students intentionally based on my collected data. I use this several days a week. Huge time saver. litandtech.com/2014/03/group-c #GoogleEdu #teachers #edtech #googlesheets

I can toot this here because my boss isn't here. Today, the rest of us are meeting in front of a green screen to take JCPenney style awkward family photos (we are all in jeans & white shirts). Resulting photos will all be framed and scattered across our boss' office. Shhhh... IT Department Goals:

I purchased a box of 50 postcards titled "Troubled Birds" - I add my own nonsense:
* bird facts I see on the internet so they must be true
* fun bird jokes
* ridiculous bird facts
and then I mail them to my college daughter and her 2 friends each week.
What silly things are you doing to connect with other humans? 😆

Next month I get all of my kids living in the same time zone - pretty excited about that! And, if I'm lucky, I just might have them all under the same roof for a few days this month. Bringing that positive energy to my Friday work this morning 😎

My donation this week for @freemo are these pics of Valiente (Val) living her best life. Notice her green binky (Nerf disc) that she carries around and then naps with. She's ridiculous but makes for happy Friday viewing as one of the
Here's hoping your weekend is fabulous - thanks for all you do!

My 7 yr old & I do 'thank yous' every night to practice gratitude. Sometimes it's for the trees & flowers. Sometimes it's for friends or school or family.

Tonight she said: "I say thank you for me" & we talked about how she really liked herself.

And she said: "You're going to be you mama for a really long time, so you may as well like yourself. Cause it's just gonna be you, you, you your whole life."

And she asked me if I liked myself & I said I did. And she said "good".

Teacher asks me how to increase the font size in the formula bar in Google Sheets as their eyesight needs the help. That feature is not available 😞
However, I suggest viewing formulas right in their cells as this is a spot where font size can be manipulated.

The keyboard shortcut to toggle this on/off is Ctrl ` (that's the tiny apostrophe-like mark that is on the same key as the tilde - it's on the top left side of your keyboard, just to the left of the number 1).

I've sent it to my Science and SS 7 teachers. #Climate is a big part of their curriculum. While I might not share this directly with students at this age, it could be well-used as an instructional tool.

I'm watching a keynote as part of an online conference and this video was used. Although it's an older one, not much has changed. Do you woo woo? 😆

My #Stanford colleague #JeremyBailenson on when to use, and when NOT to use, VR in education. My research on #GameBasedLearning" showed that for #math, (simplistic) 2D wins bigtime. That's why my studio brainquake.com produces 2D math-learning games, not immersive experiences. I started out thinking (for good reasons) immersive was the way to go! But it turned out I was wrong. Maybe for physics; but not math youtube.com/watch?v=uHIUia-U5a

I love the ease of using #bookmarks on #mastodon. The first time I check my feed in a day is overwhelming, but with vigorous bookmark use it becames calm. No opening of other tabs, no deciding whether I have the energy to absorb something right then, no need to let my urge to keep scrolling lead me to muting or unfollowing. I bookmark things I want to look at later, but also things with aspects I want to filter and people I might want to follow or unfollow or mute or not see boosts from.
