@Ged LeGuin is one of my favorites too. It's nice to meet another fan!

I recently found a talk in which she reads a portion of the first chapter. I loved hearing her pronounce the goat spell! This should start there (14:00 min.):

If you're accessing Mastodon from a Mac and you're willing to use apps in beta, I recommend trying Mammoth. Some features are still in development but I've been trying it alongside Metatext. I like them both but Mammoth is pulling ahead due to a very nice UI!

@feditips An excellent note about notes! (They're notes to self.) Thank you, @feditips

THIS is what the NRA posted yesterday - a meme mocking people with they/them pronouns.

Gun manufacturers foment bigotry, racism and misogyny, and then watch the money roll in when Americans buy guns after every mass shooting.

The hate is a feature, not a bug. twitter.com/nra/status/1593772

My and weekend are coming to a close and I needed a smile for Monday tomorrow. can be cute 😆

@Ged That’s gorgeous! Thank you. Orkney is high on my travel list…hope I can get there someday. The historic sites look wonderful.

(Btw I noticed your username. Is it from A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin?)

@richieholland I came here to create a "parachute" dependant on how things go on Twitter but despite a largish following there, I much prefer it here and hope I can make this my primary place and help to grow it within, what seems so far, to be a more mature community.

Boost this toot if you're planning on sticking around Mastodon whether or not it becomes more popular than the birdsite.

Remember when we all moved from Facebook to Google+?

Wow, thank you everyone for following! I promise to do my best to be informative, friendly, and entertaining.

*stands completely still, starts to sweat*

On Twitter I practiced my Spanish by following accounts like CNN en Español twitter.com/CNNEE - Spanish language accounts that publish news headlines are really useful for things like vocabulary, and because they are about current affairs I can often guess the words that I'm missing

Anyone got recommendations for similar accounts on Mastodon that I could follow?
