That's great. For smaller magnets, another thing you can do is to attach a needle on it so that the magnetic field extends outward which allows it to exert more torque.

Of course if you have two magnets, you can just attach them to each other to see how the fields are oriented, but using the Earth's magnetic field allows you to determine polarity.

If you are experiencing performance issues with qoto, like very long page loads, try switching to a theme that doesn't use the Mastodon instance ticker.

Edit Profile --> Preferences --> Theme dropdown menu

Select a theme the doesn't use the Mastodon instance ticker. (The default theme uses the ticker, so don't use that one.)

If you are not logged in, it will use the default ticker and so you may have performance issues when you are not logged in.

I thought you meant the other meaning for "diametrically".

You can use another magnet to test it, or if you don't have another magnet, then use the Earth's magnetic field by hanging the magnet from a string with the axes either horizontal or vertical to see which orientation acts like a compass.

- I pinged all the IP4 addresses resolved from qoto.org and lb.qoto.org and they'e in the 20's ms.

- Tried to load video.qoto.org and the page loads are intermittently slow, but I think that may be related to snatching the videos from the various peertube instances.

qoto server is running very slow this morning. Page loads about 15-20 seconds.

Other instances and sites on the internet seem to load ok.

I think all of the individual facts in this #TruthBeTold are correct, but by stringing them together and conflating the various meanings of words, and by limiting the scope of certain concepts, it doesn’t sound right.

(Actually, the last claim is probably false, I don’t think anyone believes that DST should cause geologic activity.)
