I use Fidelity Investments. I only get charged a penny for each trade, if that. Even if my capital gains from a trade are only 50 cents, the fee is still a tiny fraction of that.
Recently I was in the psych ward for 14 days and had no Internet access during that time. During that time my stock portfolio went from outperforming the S&P 500 to significantly underperforming. This just illustrates the efficacy of day trading, as opposed to just putting money in stocks and letting it sit. The latter strategy relies too much on trying to predict which stocks are going to perform well and investing in those stocks (which, you know, anyone who knows the first thing about investing knows that predicting market trends is literally impossible), while the former strategy allows you to tweak and fine-tune all the variables after-the-fact. Hell, if stock picks by so-called "experts" can be consistently beaten by stock picks based on the toss of a coin, I'd say day trading is the only way to get any real gains without making reckless bets.
@2ck
So are issue trackers something you use on GitHub for the most part? Sorry if that's a stupid question, I know nothing about software engineering.
@Absinthe
I did Advent of Code back in 2018. Good times. Unfortunately I couldn't do it this year because I was in the loony bin.
@valleyforge
What do you mean by this?
@trinsec
Okay. Well, people should know that getting a shot and getting irradiated are two entirely different things. :S
@2ck
You're also one person. That's something to consider. Anyway, I feel you. I have unfinished coding projects that I've been procrastinating on for years.
@trinsec
5G from vaccinations? What the hell is that about?
@trinsec
5G isn't even supposed to be used for telecommunications though. It's designed for IoT devices.

MSM is funded by pharmaceutical companies. Just look at how many ads they run for medications. I don't trust any media outlet whose primary purpose is to make money.
@lupyuen Just goes to show the inherent limitations of AI and how it's foolish to be blindly dependent on it.
@chambln I wasn't aware of the `:set rnu` option.
@zleap @mametsuko
Yeah, I would say it depends to a large degree on the area of study. I definitely wouldn't entrust my health to a doctor who didn't have a degree in medicine, but if we're talking about something like programming, I don't think it makes a difference if you went to college or were self-taught.
@mametsuko Just my opinion: I like having a degree because it will look good on my CV (once I get around to making one). But by no means does having a degree directly correspond to being qualified in a particular area. A college or university education is no substitute for genuine ingenuity. There have been plenty of people who dropped out of college and then went on to found billion dollar companies, because they had the smarts to come up with a world-changing idea. Not to mention the Internet makes all the knowledge of a university readily available to anyone. I may have completed an associate's program in information technology, but I'm still almost entirely self-taught.
@chambln Yup. `:set nu` in Vim.
I'm a WordPress tech blogger trying out this platform because I like exploring new communities. I have a fascination with Web 3.0 sites and Web 3.0 as a concept and want to be an early adopter of this new technology. I write about a variety of tech topics, including C programming, Unix/Linux, cyber-security and hacking, computerized data analysis, reverse engineering, retrocomputing, and computer graphics.
