@peterweyand I'm sure it is drama you wouldn't care about. But someone hitting themselves in the face with a hammer and then crying about it *would* be pretty dramatic, would it not?

@Robotbeat

Fortunately, our company is still "HR accessible," and HR is very responsive and responsible to their duty. I can walk in with a problem, and they get me to the right person in person to see about the issue.

The part that nails it for me... we have a representative from our parent company, Japanese, who works as a partner with the actual head of our company. During the worst of the initial covid outbreak while we were all crapping ourselves wondering about the Zombie Apocalypse, he was there, on the weekend, walking the floor among us. Up to that point I couldn't quite remember his name. But since that day, I remember him as "Mr. Oak" which has me recall the rest of his proper name.

Seeing the response of the leadership in our company to this whole sick, sordid mess the last several years has been pretty inspiring to me. Yeah... this is the company I want to work for and be a part of. It isn't "STEM," and it isn't the job I would choose out of a line-up, but ... yeah. This matters.

@peterweyand

The video would be considered "doxing". It is, unfortunately, family "dirty laundry." Any video we can manage to record, screen shots of posts, audio recorded, witness testimony, and so on, is more useful in the divorce settlement/ child custody proceedings.

inverse.com/mind-body/narcissi is directly relevant, and it's scary both up front and personal as well as from a country away involving loved ones.

So perhaps it could be, "Go ahead and hit yourself in the face all you want, just NOT IN FRONT OF THE DAMNED CHILDREN!"

@hausfath

skeptoid.com/episodes/4813 has an interesting one about concrete. It is a *HUGE* challenge to make existing buildings more efficient. The construction of *new* buildings (which can be coded to be more efficient) is *still* a monster on emissions. :(

Skepoid has a number of episodes on this topic you may find useful as a resource, complete with references in the transcripts.

Replacing fossil fuels with clean electricity is a key part of reducing emissions, but in some ways it’s also the easiest part. Decarbonizing our buildings will be more challenging and cannot be ignored as @billmckibben@twitter.com’s discusses in the @NewYorker@twitter.com today newyorker.com/news/daily-comme

To the dude crying out in pain while hitting himself in the face with a hammer, repeatedly...

You know, you could maybe... stop hitting yourself in the face with a hammer? Maybe? Please?

@tjcooney I don't have a link to a specific clip, but the Korolev Cross is just freakin' nutz every time I see it, either the from-the-ground shots or the space clips. It's magic to me!

7yo: “Why do people think that Lilith is a vampire?!?”

Me, assuming we’re going to talk about archetypes of women in mythology: “Why do you think, sweetie?”

7yo: “Probably because they get vampires and demons confused.”

I am happy to be home with my wife. Tilly was with me from the time @mikmaqpeek left, the drive I went to join her, the time we were together, and going back home.

When we picked up Freddy last night, I put my hand into his cat carrier on the drive home but didn't leave room for him to get back out. He pulled my hand in as far into the carrier as he could, then just hugged it while rubbing my arm with his face and hugging me, laying on top of my hand.

I'm so happy to see the old man again! I'm not clear what all we can do to help our daughter and grandkids through this situation, but I do hope we can avoid leaving Freddy behind. Freddy was well taken care of. The woman taking care of the cat ranch is wonderful, and stayed available for us after hours so we could get across the border and make it last night to pick Freddy up. Freddy had the best care possible. I just never want to do that ever again. :(

I tried to make the same point about how it was a pain to pick an email server, too confusing, ultimately doomed to fail.

Sorry, the point could not be connected.

Good morning!

I openly mock and point out the irregularities, obscenities, lies, immorality, and craziness of religion on Facebook and I've only lost a couple friends. A lot of them are highly religious and I wonder if I'm in their prayers.

@skerit

github.com/skerit?page=8&tab=r is a great list, I couldn't scan the full list yet. It appears you prefer Fabric, which is what I use. It also looks like you make Spigot plugins, which is also what I use. So... Cool!

We are trying to keep our server as vanilla with few concessions. The distance view plugin isn't updated yet for 1.19.3. Geyser/Floodgate for my nephew to be able to connect using Bedrock. I think I pulled Chunky out because I'm not limiting the world border and we end up exploring far distances in a given direction, so it wouldn't help.

My most fond wish in the world would be more brains in the AI of villagers. Something more like curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mo Unfortunately, I don't expect to see AI at this level in a Spigot plugin.

Anyway, cool to see you!

@skerit Now to look at your profile to see what mods I may be missing out on. Good to see you!

For the first time in a long while I'm not working this week. So it's the perfect time to finally upgrade the #minecraft server to 1.19.3

I'm not sure what will take the longest: updating my own self-made mods, or waiting for Curseforge pages to load?

qoto.org/@freemo/1095734447497

The part that is not so fine, in my "non-production/ non-developer/ just a user" position? As @freemo states in his post, treating one's software as if it exists in a vacuum to force an issue that has already been adopted outside of Mastodon development's control rather widely. It is as if the developer said, "This thing you guys wanted and implemented on your own? This thing you have developed as a standard in the community? Well *I* set the standards, and YOU ALL can live with what *I* decided as the way the community should do it!"

It is not *reasonable* to foster a community around a project, encourage them to develop your project and grow, and then when they have, tell that same community to piss off because you are going to do it this OTHER way, and they damned well better like it! Well of *course* the developer can do that. The developer may just find himself shut off by that same community developing his project without him.

Everything has a cost. Those costs are not always measured in money.

@cuppacoffee

Are you still having trouble? I'm not familiar with the controls on game consoles, but there are some great play throughs on YouTube.

Romaq boosted

Eh so how on earth do you actually play Minecraft?

Console bought ✔️
Game bought ✔️
Various accounts and shit set up✔️
Press play and...✔️

360 rotation through some world and no buttons or controls do anything at all 🤬

What is this??? #gaming #Minecraft
