@murks
If you are tryong to de-google your life i would suggest just insralling /e/os(or alternative degoogled roms) directly
@codingquark
I would suggest going to the ender3 subreddit(it has a really good getting started, tho i just built my printer straight away) and there are useful resources there, and also maker's muse youtube channel, as he got some interesting vids(tho you might need to dig sometimes)
@chemelia
What kind of encouragement?
@codingquark
I had some experience before(both autodesk inventor from school and learning blender for gamedev), so not at all, but you can always use thingiverse models until you get comfy with modeling yourself
@codingquark
I have got the ender 3 v2, which after roughly 2 month a not a lot of use, i need to replace the fans(bearing do bad sound), tho they dont cost much.
In terms of plastic cost, it is probably way cheaper to print yourself(obv it matters how much the outsource costs and how much you pay for your filament)
Another point to consider is the different materials, usually printers will work woth abs/pla out of the box(pla is easy to work with as well) and you can always upgrade to an all metal extruder to be able to print at higher temps(for more resilient materials and such)
@codingquark
As someone who wanted to get into 3d printing(also due to arduino stuff) and got one, i would absolutely say yes(but only if you are willing to give the time and effort for caring the 3d printer, as entry level ones will usually require more maintenance)
@lig
To make COVID less dangerous, i know someone who couldn't get vaccinated, and she had a really horrible covid experience, as compared to friends and family who barely felt it(and were just a bit tired)..
Been working on a level editor in #rust using #bevy and #egui (the editor will be a general editor tho)
Already got:
- Shapes creation(for collision mostly)
- Importing images(although they cannot be moved currently)
- Snapping grid
while it doesn't seem like much my focus was mostly on the shapes part of it

A Time Lapse video of a #3DPrint done in octoprint.
The printer pauses after every layer, moves the print head out of the way and Octoprint takes a still frame, which, when all sown together at the end, gives the impression the object is magically growing from the print bed!
Was trying to print something that had a lot of small parts in it, causing a lot of retractions in a short span of time, and it caused the extruder to EAT INTO the filament..
The worst part, ot only happened 3 hours into the print...
#3dprinting #ender3
Keeping on posting stuff I #3dprint , yesterday i printed a toothpaste squasher(?), to extract all tge toothpaste from the tube, I also printed a bigger handle "addon" because the original handle was too small(and reprinting the entire handle takes time, compared to the 30 minutes for the addon).
Additionally, it seems that switching from the "stock" pla that came with the #ender3v2 to the better ones i bought with the #3dprinter fixed the only printing issue i had(which was under extrusion sometimes, leaving holes in the print)
I think the stock pla was just slipping or something(and prob wasnt pure)
#3dprint -ed a caliper(because why not), and it is surprisingly somewhat accurate, also ran out of the bit of white filament i had mid print so i had to pause and switch, i have another roll of white but i want to use black for the other stuff and i think it looks better(although weird that it changes colours mid print.
It also took 7 bloody hours(which i was not prepared for mentally)
Updated my #website 's source code to make use of my new injector.
Also wrote a little "story" about it
https://rustystriker.dev/stories/injector.html
its also published under the AGPL-3.0 or higher!
Just made an html command injector using #rust
Now i can push bash commands into an html file.
Why? So i could make my website auto update everytime i build/serve/update it(auto updating stuff like header, footer, adjacent files and such) and also allowing me to use the power of unix shell in html files...
Finally got myself a #3dprinter, the Ender 3 v2
Build quality feels good, took me roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes to build, then took me like another 20 minutes to level the bed(as i also replaced the springs), and after a movie break, 10 minutes to start printing(had to find the boat model)
The print is literally the first print without any modifications to the default settings, and im kinda impressed.
