I'd love to try being a contributor for a season (but don't have a lot of bandwidth) if the site was designed /set up and easy to work with.

@masterofthetiger@theres.life
What I've thought about doing, if I had time : a website dedicated to rephrasing the news, taking a news piece from a source (CNN, Breitbart, or whatever) and flipping the bias. Rephrasing to how that source would write the article if it was about "the other side."

I did have the same idea that's behind the Babylon Bee years ago and started a website that was Christian satire, but we all moved on and didn't keep it going. Maybe someone will eventually have the follow through that I lack and have a site rephrasing the news too.

@masterofthetiger@theres.life thought of you when Adam Ford shut down Christian daily reporter recently to start disrn. Disrn is nice, but only gets one or two stories per day. Other Drudge alternatives are so intrusively ad heavy or so biased they're painful to use. I think there's an opening here. Are you still pursuing that idea?

Fantastic article that highlights a lot of reasons we need to save....or bring back that web. But how do we go about doing that?

I suppose for me, it's about personally avoiding the corporate web. I talk to friends about mastodon like I used to about my BBS. I get the same strange looks but occasionally someone is interested or knows someone who is connected.

I haven't publicly blogged in ages. Even my family blog, behind authentication, that I post to with family updates doesn't get any views from family because it's not posted within Facebook.

@SecondJon Don't know if you have seen my post about this, but it's an excellent article and you might enjoy reading.

You must become aware of the importance of free speech. It’s not something that should go ignored. On the contrary, it should be available to everyone, especially those who have something of great importance to express. townhall.com/columnists/derekh …

Evaluating looking for a new dev job.

I work for a company with good pay and good benefits. I want sure I'd survive here for all of 2019 because I was under resourced and had a huge project with an immovable deadline. But I made it. I thought things were going to be good. Then I was contacted by a recruiter for a non profit trader in very committed to. Moving there would be a substantial paycut,which I didn't think I could justify. But I may go back and pursue it. Here's what has me thinking...

Over the last year, I was promoted to manage the dev team (teams really, in house, contractors, and off shore) ; my entire in house team (only 2 devs) quit because of one business person who has now got a personal dev team larger than mine, while my new devs have been here for only 5-6 months. This person's team is not accountable to me, while I'm accountable for the stability of the system, which is not possible in this arrangement. This person is deceptive, manipulative, and secretive but somehow is still in position despite many people going to HR about a hostile work environment sourced from this person.

Because I lost all the experienced devs, I am counted as a full time manager but also a full time dev, business analyst, support admin, QA tester, and deployment manager for a system with 30k users.

Now I am trying to hire a new developer and had the job description approved last month, but 23 days later HR still hasn't moved on this.

My feedback/input/recommendations are routinely ignored.

So I can stay here, or pursue the job at the non profit and support the organization literally saving lives around the world, and figure out the finances. Maybe it's too late for that opportunity, but I'm at least going to put together and keep updating a resume.

Any input from anyone who has been through something similar?
