@SecondJon Those Judges really take contempt of their authority quite seriously.
She got the fine and the jail time (a heavy punishment) mainly for refusing to back down and apologizing to His Honour, the presiding judge, whose cease and desist order she had violated.

I'd like to think about Net Neutrality, but the lack of it killed me two years ago, just as the Democrats predicted.
By the logic many people are applying to coronavirus and lockdowns, we should reduce the national speed limit to 30mph, ban alcohol & cigarettes, and shutter up every flu season.
We cannot eliminate all risk from the environment. Especially when it creates other huge problems... https://www.twitter.com/zubymusic/status/1257986454678011904

She "was taken into custody immediately after the hearing and booked into the Dallas County jail... where there are currently 248 inmates who have tested positive for the coronavirus."
Dallas salon owner gets 7 days in jail, $7,000 fine for reopening shop

“... This is the case with Covid-19, where a broad array of scientific facts overwhelmingly shows that anxiety from reactions to the disease will destroy at least seven times more years of life than can possibly be saved by lockdowns. Moreover, the total loss of life from all societal responses to this disease is likely to be more than 90 times greater than prevented by the lockdowns.“
______
Meticulous research shows that anxiety from reactions to Covid-19—such as stay-at-home orders, business shutdowns, media exaggerations, and legitimate concerns about the virus—will extinguish at least 7 times more years of life than can possibly be saved by lockdowns.

The wrong way to judge the #USA's response to the #Coronavirus is as a nation.
It really needs to be examined from a state by state basis.

Interesting that even the pro-mandate spokespeople understand this is unconstitutional. Kyle here advises that we should be like Rosa Parks and only write a letter to the government or file a lawsuit. Just like Parks did.
The rule here is that not only are Denver citizens banned from buying food without a mask, the stores are obligated to forcibly remove anyone who takes off their mask.
Commentary: Mad about Denver's mask order? Fine. You're not Rosa Parks.
Denver's new mask mandate will begin May 6th without a proposed end date. It mandates masks in places like stores and public transit. There's a problematic detail.
@sda
I'm less willing to wear one if it's mandated without the authority to do so.
@mhjohnson
Looks like the mayor of #Denver is declaring pelt will be prevented from buying groceries (any anything else) if we don't wear masks.
Current question on my mind : Does a mayor have the authority to prevent people from buying food?
The Mayor of #Denver has announced that masks will be mandatory in every store within the city limits. I've worn masks in stores for weeks now, but I'm not sure he's got the authority to require all citizens to be prevented from buying food unless they wear a face mask.

"It comes from a history rooted in racism and an identity placed upon their ancestors – and now many of them – without their consent."
Something seems fundamental about this sentence in the article. Does it reveal a worldview that says one's identity is of one's own making, or only valid if received with consent? That's not how identity works.
Much (most? at the beginning, all?) of one's identity is placed upon one without one's consent.
Update: We Now Have Only 12 Seconds Left Until Climate Change Destroys The Planet
"The earth will be totally destroyed in the next, oh, 12 seconds," said Beto O'Rourke at a rally. "If you don't give the government a bunch of money and power, it will happen. Trust me."
"So hand over the cash, guys," he said. "Like, now. I'm super serious."
I'm interested in being just not civil, but excellent in interacting with others of different viewpoints in an online world where we can so viciously defend our echo chambers and be so dismissive of other perspectives.
Because this is less and less possible here, I'm largely offline and am not sure if I'll be returning. It was fun back when civility was a trend on qoto.
