How do we know what’s going on in the world? Our government tells us! 😭

Jakarta is sinking. Interesting article but it ends with this penultimate paragraph :

“The message here is that technology can't get us out of this,” Kiparsky adds. “You need something more difficult—you need institutional solutions, you need political will to do something radical.”

The rejection of innovation, invention, and science in favor of centralized authority seems to be a disturbing pattern when discussing big issues lately.

Only a matter of time before politicians "red flag" someone (or groups of political enemies) for being a political dissident.

"Forty-two percent of Americans have a favourable opinion of their president, while just 36% of Canadians approve of Trudeau. And while nearly 53% of Americans disapprove of Trump, a staggering 63% of Canadians have given up on the Liberal leader."

That is, PM Trudeau has a worse net approval rating among Canadians than President Trump has among Americans. Hard to believe.

The important thing in life is not to keep a steady system of pleasure and composure (which can be done quite well by hardening one’s heart or thickening one’s head), but to keep alive in oneself the immortal power of astonishment and laughter, and a kind of young reverence.

Increased CO2 transforming earth, growing the rainforest and plants across the globe.

I guess.... Yay for greenhouse gasses?

"From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25."

There's like 2 PhDs on her staff but apparently they failed to tell her that is her own colleague.

Essentially, the left’s rule is that nothing bad—no matter how true—may be said about Muslims or Islam and nothing good—no matter how true—may be said of Christians or Christianity.

DID YOU PAY MORE OR LESS TAX THIS YEAR?
"The Tax Foundation noted, “The new tax code lowered tax rates, doubled the standard deduction, doubled the child tax credit and expanded eligibility, and limited the alternative minimum tax. It also limited several deductions, such as for state and local taxes paid and mortgage interest … Approximately 80 percent of filers had their taxes cut by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, while only 5 percent saw their taxes increase.”

DEATH COUNT OVER 300 NOW.
PLEASE PRAY FOR SURVIVORS <3
"105 churches and/or Christian buildings are burned or attacked every month.
345 Christians killed for faith-related reasons every single month.
Why does the most persecuted religious group in the world receive the least sympathy from world leaders and the media after each devastating attack?"

Unlike most articles on healthcare, this one delves into the ethical dilemmas in the fine print. Well worth reading.

For example: "Under "Medicare for all," gynecologists or nurses who refused to perform an abortion — to end a human life — would have their employment agreements revoked. In other words, they would no longer be able to work for the only medical employer in the whole country: the government."
