@freemo also, we are very much close to Pakistan and Bangladesh in many ways, because we used to be a single country before partition.
@freemo the thing is that in India, we don't have a particular culture that i or any Indian can pinpoint. We have a unique diversity where we have more than 100 languages (23 recognized by the constitution), 5 major religions and many other minorities.
Every 200 km, you can see the uniqueness nature of India.
In Korea or China, they have a particular culture with which they represent their country. India represents itself with it's diversity.
Long post: Mastodon, newbies, an India server
+
I'm guessing that all of us newbies who've flooded in looking for a Twitter alternative should, sooner or later, build our own instance on a safe server.
It's a big plus for me that Mastodon's structure doesn't encourage the dangerous vanity of high follower counts/ celeb profiles. Smaller groups, focused on specific interests, with higher levels of trust: I could buy into that future.
@shibaprasad as much as their role is important, one's privacy should be respected too.
@TheTootOfGod hookah, i see.
@freemo not really.
For almost all the girls, till marriage, they stay with their parents.
For almost all the boys, till and after marriage, they *have* to live with their parents just to please them.
Although, nowadays, the trend is changing.
What I find interesting, is that in India, there isn't a social norm of moving out of parent's house after 18, unlike many other countries.
Maybe because of the large population leading to high rates of housing.
I guess, that's another reason why our Desi parents want us to act like grown-ups but treat us like babies at the same time.
@realcaseyrollins @mngrif people leaving Twitter are leftists and liberals. The current ruling govt is from right wing. Twitter is constantly deleting accounts of people who are writing against the govt.
Also, people with really less followers and no tweets are getting verified (blue tick) who support the govt.
That's all, i guess.
@Full_marx @freemo what do think is a better substitute for cow milk?
@freemo they don't understand. They say, "it doesn't matter if we change or not. Others aren't changing, why should we"
@freemo i am not at all religious. My family is just not that understanding in these matters. They won't agree to my decision of replacing cow milk with coconut milk. Once, I move out, I will make changes for the nature.
@design_RG a lot of nights, i have cried myself to sleep due to the issues going around in the world and how little i am to change them.
@freemo i don’t eat meat at all, unlike my family, but the real problem is dairy.
@TheTootOfGod @noname123 we are your child, aren't we?
Got it?
@freemo paneer is real tasty. But because it is made from milk, i am trying to avoid it. In process of going vegan.
@freemo this is so cool. The diversity in Indian food makes me feel so proud. One can't get enough of it.
