Rust history question
@freakazoid I am guessing it probably went out the window when they decided to embrace zero-cost abstractions.
I wish #mastodon had reaction icons ala slack. Sometimes you want to express something without adding much noise. Boosting and favorite isn't quite the same.
@dannyman shitposters, famous people turning into man-babies, conspiracy theories. I'm curious did mastodon filter your own toot?
@ViljamiSairanen @trinsec I think what trinsec means is put hashtags in your posts. People you are not connected to will see those posts because they have those tags in their profile. For example #mri and #brain. You may need to experiment as to what tags bring the right people to your posts.
@fourmajor Tested that myself, it's in fact true. I won't be deleting my account though, I want to make twitter host it until they shutter the damn place, and I will check in from time to time to warm my bones next to the nice warm dumpster fire.
@freemo Ok, subscribed, I guess I can see who I might want to follow someday...
@freemo We are listed as "limited" on hachyderm.io, (aka the new "silenced") but I've been trying to follow several people on that instance, and on the qoto page I get when I click on search results (and where I did the original follow), they are all in a wait state with "Cancel follow request".
Is this normal when we are a silenced server? If not, could it be a qoto issue? Or is there a workaround?
I don't see those responses in your timeline, so I'm guessing it's because I imported the blocklist in the link below and can't see them.
Well that's progress at least. Hachyderm.io is going to move qoto.org from suspend to silence. @freemo

@liquidthex I use both #rust and #rustlang, I haven't seen any thing about the game, but I do see occasional interesting pictures of rusting things. I consider this a plus though.
@timbray I feel like that building should be on fire for some reason. 😀
@wilfredh I low key prefer shorter keywords at least for things that are used a lot, because you will quickly learn the meaning so you don't need a whole word to help with that, and there's less to type and scan over when reading.
Old software developer. C++ developer by day, Rust for fun. Linux guy. Hacking on the intersection of #computervision and #neuroscience in my spare time. Fan of #SpaceX, but Elon, not so much.
*** NOTICE ***
I've been getting follows from some fairly dubious accounts, so I'm going to have to approve follows from now on. If you want to be approved, the bar is low, have some followers or a profile that checks out. Be patient, I may not check that often.
