@Hypx taking a pickup truck on a cross-country trip is an incredibly stupid idea. Having a ranch truck that can charge of the same circuit that runs your well pump and never having to drive 50 miles to fill up the tank is a great idea. ranch equipment that can not only charge on site, but can also act as a mobile power source capable of running a MIG welder is a fantastic idea. Having a truck that cost less than half as much per mile as a ICE truck that is a real win.

@lysander07 certainly there is no response bias in this poll on Mastodon. 😜

Few non-programmers know that less than 10% of a programmer’s productive time is spent actually writing code. A typical programmer actually spends around 70% of their working day desperately Googling to try to find the answers, while the remaining 20% is taken up closing all the tabs they opened.

@Ryan since I have not seen it in the replies so far, I will state the easy and obvious answer, it is the Body and Blood of out Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

There is of course 2000 years of theologians unpacking what that means, but I think that is where we start, and to be honest most Sunday mornings when I receive the Eucharist, this is enough.

"For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes." 1 Cor 11:23-26 (NRSV)

@ukuku Nevada has one at their community center just a block from downtown. Again, not fast, but with Lunch and a little shopping it is enough to get my M3 back to Sacramento.

As and aside, the Nevada State Railroad Museum is worth the drive if you like that kind of thing.

@w7voa Does this mean there is no valid demonym for your state?

Get to know a Gen Xer.

Sit beside them and learn their stories, of wall-mounted phones with long extension cords and going to the airport gate unticketed without passing through security.

Listen with them as they delight in the music of their youth, the songs that only they now keep alive — the songs of Cyndi, and both Eddies, and Dave.

Very soon the last Gen Xer will be passing from this realm to the next, and then they will belong to the ages. Get to know one now — before it’s too late.

Please boost for a wider demographic.

@TruthSandwich @unicorndeburgh It's not so much that I *am* a democrat as it is that I'm being held hostage by the two party system. In essence the /#Biden Party machine walked into holding a bomb labeled Donald J and said "Hand over all your political priorities or we'll set this thing off and blow the whole country to smithereens!"

The fancy political science term is "captured constituency." It is why having people like Bernie Sanders in the primaries is important.

I'm trying to remember that people is more important on than on sites afflicted with "The Algorithm." Usually I read through the first several posts of people I might be interested in following.

I just ran across a person with the top three posts being a complaint about big corporate BS, , and a . It got an immediate follow!

@ottaross @Maker_of_Things@strangeobject.space I can turn any head into a slotted head if I can find the dremel tool or a hack saw blade.

@the5thColumnist Star shaped hole with a dot in the middle. When that patent expired the size of the do changed a bit.

It is getting harder to recommend that anybody come work for my company. Last week the EH&S team tried to force people that were using personal or rented vehicles to transport company equipment to go through training about Defensive Driving Small Vehicles. Holy crap these people are out of touch. Lawyers drive this company now and not reasonable people.

You get to the end of the course you are teaching and students conclude it was a waste of time. How do you respond?
