This is HUGE.

"The National Labor Relations Board ruled Tuesday that employers can no longer demand laid-off employees avoid publicly disparaging the company as part of their severance agreements, nor can they stop affected employees from disclosing the terms of their exit packages. Doing so, the federal agency determined, would be a violation of the laid-off employees’ rights under the National Labor Relations Act."

I use lots of graph paper, so I made a LaTeX template to print my own. It was so handy that @duetosymmetry and I turned it into a LaTeX package.

There are various grid styles (graph, quadrille, hex, iso, dot grid, etc), and both custom and pre-defined color schemes.

Use it to easily print your own paper, or to make pdf page templates for your favorite tablet note-taking app. I use them with GoodNotes & Notability.

@julesh "I would simply have a clear and objective moderation policy." My experience is that the hard parts of moderation are never clear or objective. Human communication is subtle, nuanced and different across different cultures. The more ridged the moderation policies, the more they will exclude voices of people who are not like the people who wrote the policy. At the same time an over reliance on objective measures leads to people doing "letter-of-the-law" posts that violate the spirit of the rules (e.g. Rule: no swear words. response: "Well Bleep you you Bleeping mother Bleeper").

Moderating small culturally homogeneous groups defined by common interest and experience is a totally different world that moderating an open general discussion forum.

Zoom ordered no more work from home for its employees because someone in legal read the new Zoom ToS and was shocked by what Zoom can now do with the content of Zoom calls.

@davidzipper It is not the whole story, but the CAFE standards fro fuel economy reward large wheel base vehicles with less stringent standards. The unintended consequence is the loss of station wagons and small trucks. thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/10/

@takeitev
Platform maturity.

It always happens. Any new movement the best people move first and the average and terrible ones arrive later.

When CrossFit appeared my fittest friends jumped on that.

When Twitter started my friends who could best describe their day in 140 characters went there.

When Gab started all the racists got in first.

Now Mastodon has the most interesting people and the nasty posters are arriving here too to pad out the ranks.

This is an excellent time to be skeptical consumers of legal takes and be cautious about both Trumpist pseudo-legal disinformation and Resistance pseudo-legal wishcasting.

We drove #electriccar to Paris recently and back, via Dieppe - no worries.
Last December I drove to Berlin and back. Again, each drive took about 10 hours with couple of stops - no problems.

Stop believing nonsense in the media. It's a moaning of either corrupt people or let's just say - less gifted in the upstairs apartment - who think their privilidges is just a norm. #climate #ElectricVehicles #climateaction

@freemo @trinsec There are some jobs that are incredibly hard to automate. Strawberry growers have been funding research into how to automate picking strawberries since the 1980's. It is hard labor intensive work and the first person who can do it successfully will be a billionaire by the end of the year. In spire of directed research and huge potential profits, "Pick the red fruit gently without damaging the plant or the green fruit." Is still not even close to reality.

Do I know any screen reader users who have successfully completed advanced math coursework? If so, I would like to meet with you. Boosts requested

@yappari Have you ever considered migrating to a server that has them?

The most Mastodon thing I’ve seen on here so far is someone CWing a picture of a cat because the cat is making eye contact.

Please Fedi-Friends,

@alexwild I have a bit of nostalgia for the time that Yahoo was trying to keep all pages in a defined categorised tree.

Now I can't even get Amazon to return search results related to or even containing the words in my search string.

@kirby@lab.nyanide.com Being on fediblock is just a sign that your instance is properly federating across the network. It's an inevitability and there is nothing you can do about it.
