International Olympiad in Informatics 2020 postponed due to .

@w0tn0t

Tried it a while ago in a VM which I use NoMachine to connect to. Works pretty much out of the box with sane defaults. Sync seemed to be disabled due to some bugs though.

For most centralized governments, this crisis has been an experiment in how quickly and tightly they can monitor and control the public.

Lessons learned will be implemented later on.

I NEED a machine that automatically makes in the morning so I have motivation to get up

@sampo

With no state to screw you, one would need a {b,g}f indeed ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@chris @zanger

Nice. That's one of the keyboards on my long, long wish list ;-)

I've heard that Tex's trackpoint implementation isn't as good as, say, Thinkpads' though. What do you think?

While the nth room incident is extremely condemnable (can not freaking stress this enough), I really hope that it does not lead to more people pushing the act.

BTW, regarding the 260k members,

- I feel somewhat uncomfortable about the media assuming that they are all male.
- A bit of devil's advocate: considering that there were multiple "levels" of rooms, I'm unsure if all those people knew exactly what was going on in the "darkest" rooms.

Thinking about it, I'm a bit curious: considering that the offending user is already using multiple accounts to evade bans, even if the admins of said instances banned the accounts, wouldn't it be the same whack-a-mole as bans by individual users?

(I have to admit I'm not that well-versed in online communities, I guess.)

@tedvim individual users actually can effectively silence servers. On the web interface, it's in the three dots at the bottom right of each post (except the ones on your own instance, of course - you cannot block your own server). Click "Hide everything from example.com" and you achieve the desired effect.

What you cannot do is *undo* a silence that the instance admin put on. I wish for a feature that says, "Allow me to interact with users at example.com in spite of the ban. I am an adult with a thick skin. If the users at example.com are mean to me, I promise not to go crying to my admin, because he doesn't want to deal with their crap."

@fluffy

`cmd 2>&-` might work, but I don't think it has the same semantics. (Close the fd vs redirecting it into the void.)

@fluffy

Not sure if there's a more "idiomatic" way (I'm a vim person lol), but ctags seems to work fine with emacs AFAIK.

It's somewhat annoying that some of my online classes (cause ) require proprietary software that does not work on :/

@Ascendor

Interesting. IIRC, Cloudflare DNS also doesn't support EDNS, though I don't think I've encountered issues because of that.

@freemo @design_RG @mngrif @arteteco

Fairly OT, but I don't really understand why server silencing can't be opted-out by the user AFAIK. (As opposed to, say, server suspension, which I sort of get why users can't opt-out of.) (Aside from no one implementing the feature, I guess.)
