One suggestion I would have is, it works best on a laptop or desktop. Mobile is possible, but there are so many things happening and extra links and tabs to open.

I couldn't imagine using the fediverse with a mobile phone, maybe just one instance and not a busy one at that.

@maison_faim It is a nice place. Our system admin is @freemo , who is a Doctor in Science and operates his own business.

The instance benefits from professional hosting and daily backups, so it's a stable place to build a profile.

There is a theme, but light chat is not discouraged. And a variety of users with many interests.

I have only been here for a month, and love the experience.

Ours is pretty quiet, and we have a nice theme, Science related.

I think these other posts you see are replies or mentioning the account you do follow.

I thnk you found a related post I made a f minutes ago, about this very topic -- using the hash tags #FF or #FollowFriday you can find nice posts people made recommending good accounts.

I was honoured to be included in one, made by our sys admin at Qoto, even being a new user. Yey. 😉

As you go around and see conversations, join them and you might find interesting people there too.

I imagine the Local feed at your home instance must be pretty busy, ours is pretty quiet sometimes (and I go hunting on other instances for interesting conversations)
