@teknonomicon Write then down, those thoughts, before other things distract you and they are lost, forever.

You might want to try writing on a plain text editor, it's simple, no distractions, no formatting to curate or notifications popping up.

When you have it completed, re-read. Good? Copy and paste in the very small Toot editor window here (which is not really great for more complex thinking and longer writing.

I did that the other day and was very pleased with the results.

You can even break a large piece into smaller chunks; then copy and paste them here, one after the other, first post and follow up replies.

That makes it easier for people who might not touch a full, longer writing piece.

I saw another user telling a story like that, and loved to follow his posts, the build up of the story.

His story is here, if you like to check it out. todon.nl/@anarchiv/10326070775

@teknonomicon That's a real nice post, thank you! Well done.

It's great to read or listen to people explain their stories, their life experiences, we all walk on different paths but have much in common.

Thanks for sharing such personal insights TN. :thumbsup_hmn_h2:

Some Lovely Linux desktops I have seen.

I came across a series of desktop snapshots taken by a techie user at another instance.

They are quite interesting, I am posting here a picture of my favourite one.

With her on the desktop it would become even harder to pry me away from my laptop, lol.

/me wishes for an AI like "Her" (2013 film)...

With thanks to Paulo, @jpaulostrindade

@moonshine@freespeechextremist.com @Sphinx I have enjoyed those talks, with blitz and georgia, nice people.

@moonshine@freespeechextremist.com
Yes, that's true. And plus you are involved in many conversations, many fast ones, it helps be brief

@Sphinx

@moonshine@freespeechextremist.com
LOL, that doesn't surprise me, you prolly used SMS a lot too?

/me no big fan of mobile. Like it when traveling, but at home it's laptops and desktops 4 the win.

@Sphinx

@jahnke @manav Trigonometry is a nice topic, and specially when you see it applied.

Like, how high is that Mountain there?

How distant is that marker? Topography uses it.

We don't know much about you yet, Manav, do you need an introductory book on Trig basics, or more advanced material?

@jahnke Did Dr Freeman saw your account and posts yet, MR?

He's our host and sys admin here.

@freemo

@Sphinx No, I meant there is a lot of short, one liner posts. Which I don't like much, as there's no need for that terseness nowadays.

When Twitter started, they allowed people to send in tweets via SMS, hence the 140 chars limit thaey had for ages.

That forced people into ultra terse mode to try and say something relevant, in so little text.

Many just post banter (at TW), but I personally dislike the cryptic style, sometimes it takes work just to decipher what the person means at all.

@Sphinx @moonshine@freespeechextremist.com
That makes HT's numbers really stand up, eh. A verbal crowd there.

@Sphinx @moonshine@freespeechextremist.com
And then I get curious about QOTO's score...

@Sphinx @moonshine@freespeechextremist.com

This got me curious to see their stats, and they currently have about the same number of posts as HT. But many more users.

@Sphinx

Although I mostly sit and listen, very rarefied talks, a lot of programmers, developers there. The sys admin is Nolan, the author of Pinafore, which is wonderful software.

@moonshine@freespeechextremist.com

@Sphinx

Shhhhhh!! 😛 Yep, me there too.

I imported the Following list from here to there and other places I have low profile accounts (a couple more, for special interests, different language posts). And an observant user on my list could have noticed the Follow request coming from this new account on a different instance they did not visit before.

HT is quite nice and specialized, there's people working in admin and network security, a nice place for me to learn new things.

@Sphinx
LOL, I am bad at operational Security it seems. 😄

It's HT, Hackers.town, QC.

@moonshine@freespeechextremist.com

@freemo
Wonderful to know, boss. I had even forgotten how lovely and FAST Pinafore is.

Look forward to it, TY!

@nolan

@Sphinx A lot of posts there, but unfortunately a lot of them are of the tweet, short, cryptic one liners.

Not a fan. But there's a good crowd and some nice knowledge there. :thumbsup_hmn_h2:

Not too many users, but a verbose group. Another instance I hang out at. :thumbsup_hmn_g1:

Adding a second screenshot, Pinafore is just so delightful as a client. Look at the Image description box, to assist our visually impaired users. :love_parrot:
