HT is a good bunch, very talkative fellows, varied interests, good place to learn about Security, networking, etc. Recommended. 👍

Nice that you are allowing new regs.

@iankenway Election Day UK tomorrow, good luck to our brothers and sisters on the Progressive side of the fence.

UK politics

"I’m worried about the return of authoritarian rule. I’m worried about the deepening divisions in society. I’m worried about the wildfire spread of disinformation and the catastrophic collapse in public standards and public discourse. I’m worried about the growth in anti-intellectualism and the seismic shift in politics away from pragmatism towards naked ideology. I’m worried about the normalisation of racism..."

Great post. These things worry me a lot too 😞

@georgia
Well, you post a lot of nice kitties, and people can discover the other users from your boosts and posts.

So... Can't have too many cat pics, imo. 😺 Meow....

I really enjoyed traveling in Portugal, was there and in Southern Spain for 2 months. 😮

Great fun, first time visiting Europe, and I loved it. ❤️ 🇪🇺

Lisbon itself I prefered to walk, the city is beautiful to wander around, has many historical neighbourhoods, a lot of hills. And traffic in the busier streets and avenues.

They have wonderful public transit - including the Trams, the famous 'Bondes' (in Brazilian speak), there called 'Elétricos'.

Riding these in some of the hilly routes is pure fun, and very popular with tourists.

Got to be at the start of the line early, so you can enjpy a ride in the small trams without the crowding and lines that form later.

Cycling in Portugal is good, but you need some traveling and riding experience as the roads don't have much shoulders, you need to change from road to raod to reach a destination.

But doable, and camping is superb all over the country.

I can write a whole guidebook about it, and probably will, lol. 😜

I visited 3 times, the first bike touring, the other two backpacking, which makes it easier to hop on the trains and intercity buses; but you lose some of the freedom of the touring bike, which would take me anywhere I wanted to.

some more rural places, there might be less options of public transport, there the bike will shine.

My campaign to promote on birdsite is working. Jack wants federation I hear?

Add your home instance address to your TW profile if you use it.

@realcaseyrollins Twitter Jack has mumbler something about federating, have you heard? It's the trending talk all over town.

@Tmo Hey, Tmo, good tastes. 😉

Welcome, friend. Don't know if you need a guide to mastodon, but just in case...

If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

We also have another new users guide, posted here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggesti

Any question, just ask, and someone will try and help out.

Have a good day!

Mastodon Wishlist

@dublinux@mastodon.technology I think those are good ideas.

I have found a nice home right from the start, but many might not be so lucky.

I had an idea and made a few posts about it -- that maybe we could start a Rate My Instance thing.

Like the kids do have Rate My Teacher, other people Rate My Doctor.

My posts can be found in the tag.

Take a look at this post - it has some quick pointers for new users.

A nice one is to look for the FollowFriday hash tag; people do post suggestions on good accounts to follow.

@punkymcmunky There's a lot to see and do. I haven't even been reading the news like I lways used to.

Learning new things, there's Mastodon, where we are here, plus other projects.

To share video, like YT. To share music, photos, blog writings.

Each instance is independant and has it's own theme, rules and 'feel'.

Ours here is sci tech eng math, but not strictly enforced as mandatory for each post.

I volunteered for a moderation job that is opening now, and have been nominated by our sys admin, @freemo, Dr Freeman in civilian life.

I got invited to this social media platform from a friend...looks interesting! 😀 I'm just here to look for friends that share nerdy and geeky interests. I'm a huge nerd and geek and proud of it! 😀

@punkymcmunky There is a lot to discover on the fediverse, I have been here full time since I started about a month ago, love it.

Got about 4 times the number of posts here, in one month, that I had on twitter, since 2011.

Still sad to even check there, people don't react at all, too much going on.

Here is much more friendly and fun, there are knowledgeable people to talk to. Great place for geeks like us.

@namark
OMG, those little wheels will be deadly in any cracks in the pavement. Saw a lot of tourists renting them in Lisbon, and we had to keep an eye up and stay off their way on the sidewalks sometimes.

I almost wiped out on my fully loaded touring bike there, on a slick marble curb - right in front of the beautiful river Tejo.

Glad I didn't fall, it was heavy and the pavement was all granite.

@Techdestroyer

Ah, you came together, cool. 😄

I invited Punky via penpal letter, app, glad you two made it. This is a great instance to be.

Welcome!
