@freemo @realcaseyrollins@civiq.social It's been a busy morning, Casey -- I found that thread just by accidentally spotting one of the replies on the Home feeds.

Followed it, and this person has opened an attack calling for De-Federation of our instance. with a one line piece of text and a snapshot of one of our pages.

Thread was posted last night and got a surprising number of Boosts. I responded in the thread until @DissidentKitty@radical.town blocked me apparently.

Feels like this was all done on a mobile, immature prank, but still she means it, it seems.

@freemo Well, I haven't been in Fediverse for long at all, calendar wise - month and a half. But most of this time I have put in double shift hours, and learned a lot about the network, the way things operate, etc.

I still find it annoying that someone could come out and lay such a poor thread, and get support from their buddies.

No loss for me if I don't see their instance, I wouldn't be attracted to it, but to allow an attack on ours to go unanswered is not my way of doing things.

And on Christmas Eve, we get into a fight with someone with a mobile phone, some weird ideas and time to drum up and attack our instance.

@kashi They spent a lot of time on hand copying books. Not only the text, which was laboriously copied in difficult script, but all the illuminations added at the margins and capitals like this one. Works of art, expensive and fragile, glad we still have many of them today.

@JulianRott Learning in different ways is always good. Some types of knowledge need physical training, fine motor control for example.

Some can be more abstract and work best in a focused, desk or blackboard centered way.

I do work and learn, plus teach, in both ways and don't consider one method superior to the other.

We still have paths to apprenticeship, and even people with higher education levels benefit from hands on experience. An engineer who doesn't know how to build can't design ok
