If you just posted something and see an ugly typo, or realized your link is broken, or forgot something - it's a great time saver.

- Click on the dots "..." menu at bottom right of post.
- select Delete/Redraft.

Post will be removed, and its contents copied to the Toot Editor ready for any fix you need.

@smonky Which allows us to filter out all kinds of Foreign ones we have no idea of content -- a major time saver in the Federated timeline.

That simple thing, clicking a few buttons in Mastodon preferences, and you eliminate all kinds of Unreadable Kanji and East Asian scripts.

Some times of the day, the traffic from Asia is very heavy, and most would be taken off by this.

@smonky Yes, there's alwys room for improvements -- I just made a thread with a #wishlist of mine, which is to enable Rich Text in toot postings.

Can be done, it is being done in some instances. By having ideas and trying to find ways to put them in practice we make things better.

A tagging system that was built into Mastodon itself would be ideal - so it might avoid mistags by users. Kind of like it senses the language in the post.

@smonky Other than the Cat posting Bot (awesome), all the rest is the underbelly, the less appealing side of this network.

Some might come for that, but I wouldn't build a network for that alone.

Luckily this can be ignored or filtered out as each user prefers.

@users I think we are getting back to normal, ~250 new accounts average growth per week now.

Still - I joined here on November 8th or so -- and we had about 3,200 users.

It has doubled in this short time frame. 😜

For comparison, here's the same OP post (from HT, Glitch, Formatted in the original) a displayed at Qoto Mastodon via Pinafore Client.

Unfortunately, although it looks nicer than the Web client snap above, it did not receive any of the extra formatting from the Mastodon instance itself.

Adding this one for reference reasons.

@rgx Ok, the text was received here at Qoto.org, which runs Mastodon, with some Custom modifications.

Replying with two screenshots:

1. taken at Hacker's Town, and capturing Pinafore's display of Markdown formatted text. No stray formatting marks, but noticeable Bold, Underline, Italicized, Bulletted lists.

2. Same post, as viewed at Qoto, displays plain text, and NO stray formatting, other than a plain and uncharming post.

Bummer, but it *is* possible to have MarkDown now already, without breaking #HalfofFedi

To Wish for Rich Formatting in Toot Text is Legit, imo. Can be Done. Is possible.
