Hope this works well and you get F-Droid for distribution, they run a nice place there and people who know trust it. Many of their users would prefer not to use G Play at all.

@maison_faim
I wrote a blog post detailing the story, up to the point of me sending the first letter, which is included in full on the post. Here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/when-you

I agree with you, that unless we have a problem and that cannot be solved, we shouldn't be blocking other instances willy nilly.

The admin of M.T. wanted us to block Gab if we wanted him to lift his unilateral block on our instance.

@angelobottone

@realcaseyrollins
He mentioned he is waiting for the Tusky v10 release to come out, since he's using some of their code in his own version.

But maybe you could get a pre-release, testers one? 😉

(There might be a link in the Git, but A mentioned it doesn't work.)

@a1batross

@maison_faim

There's always things happening, we cross paths and discover new people, new places or new and surprising things.

Like that a large instance decides to block another one, which thematically is not far off their own line. Simply because the second instance (us, qoto) is not blocking a third party which they refuse to federate with.

Drama, oh yeah. 😉

So, said goodbye to mastodon.technology, who I will no longer visit.

@angelobottone

Find a place to host your files, videos, mastodon or other social media instance? Yesterday I discovered this one, which is similar to the French Chatons -- chatons.org/en

"librehosters is a network of cooperation and solidarity that uses free software to encourage decentralisation through federation and distributed platforms. Our values connect transparency, fairness and privacy with a culture of data portability and public contributions to the commons. "

@pschwede It's nice that you have been watching and reacting, modifying it.

I find it an interesting thing to have, thank you for it. 👍

A Guide to Fediverse Drama, seems a nice thing to have.

Just getting started and the Drama, yeah. LOL...

Posts are dated from 2017, but I have been reading some good materials from the same vintage and many things are still current.

@pschwede Wolfram does a great job, pretty plot from a command line entry, nice looking. Is this the function you are using for the post algorithm now?

@a1batross @realcaseyrollins and that link you provided should work too. There was a set of buttons at the Pleroma front end, not there now, as A1batross mentioned.

@freemo Wonderful -- Thank you!

That will make us unique in yet another way. 😛

@freemo I really like his Green Theme as well, if you think we could add another choice of Theme for colour variations. Easy on the eyes and has some nice contrasting elements.

I can request a Theme file if it's possible. A couiple of screenshots, the Default web client and one with AWI enabled.

@freemo I can ask Renato, just a sec, let me see what version they are using now.

@freemo #1 I am looking forward to -- not only since it fixes the character limit to match the instance own, generous 65 K chars.

Most specially, that fix will help ALL clients, which currently only allow using the dumb 500 chars default of Mastodon source code. I would be using Pinafore all the time here, if not for that problem. Halcyon, has the same problem, and all the mobile clients too.

If I could suggest yet another request, Renato Lond has contributed a patch to Mastodon git which incorporates the Strictly LOCAL post, not Federated at all. It came from the GlitchSoc project, where it is in use everyday on GS instances.

Renato's has it in place and I see users posts showing it -- they show a icon (a broken chain) in their post lower area, indicating it was intended for that instance only. Example below.

Renato pointed me to github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/ for the code in question.

Adding another two screenshots of this feature at the user side as a toot option.

Thank you for considering this!

@realcaseyrollins
It is a nice instance to see what Pleroma is like, which is really interesting. The controls it allows a user, you can change not only any of the different element colours in the UI, but even the Font style -- serif, sans, monospaced. Or specify one you prefer yourself -- I looked at it with Verdana, which is an Enhanced san-serif font (similar to Arial but better), and it looks pretty.

Where else can you get this kind of control at the user level? Not for everyone, but I like this option being there for power users.

And the Toot size limit is 65 K characters too; something I have begged some mastodon admins, and they refused. (ex-Twitter people, they don't see a need and mostly post one liners themselves.)

@a1batross

@namark
Respect, that is an attitude which I think is rare those days. A signal that you work with logic and can follow thru the code step by step. Skill. 👍
@mandlebro

@realcaseyrollins
If Husky is released and supports the Rich Text Formatting which Pleroma and GlitchSoc already support, it will be unique. And it's built as a fork of Tusky, a popular client, so people won't have to learn a whole new interface and way to use Fedi.

Look forward to it as well.

@a1batross

@realcaseyrollins @a1batross Hi Casey, sorry I was a bit off line yesterday. REturning now, the coffee pot is on. lol.

A list of GlitchSoc instances. I will do a search in a minute and report back. Wanted to mention for now that EMR does have various possible front ends you can use to see it - it's another of those amazing things Pleroma has.

* The normal Pleroma UI ,which is all javascript and client side processed.
* A link to Pinafore.social is in the main front end list of options too.

* and another link, marked MastodonFE -- which will open EMR in a Mastodon interface, but is actually GlitchSoc, has the extra controls, I recognized it as soon as I opened the Settings app.

So if you joined there you could get the two experiences in one place.

Searched and it's hard to find instances with GS installed. I came across a couple that are closed membership, for the dev community. But Nikisoft has one and is open for signup (they are the developers of halcyon client as well.

blog.nikisoft.one/tags/GlitchS has a link to muensterland.social/about

"A small instance, mostly German speaking, for people around Muenster, Germany."
