@freemo

I fully agree with what Skypilot said -- It is pretty mild here in mastodon so far, unlike the hell hole that Twitter can be.

That's where the yelling matches and shock troops are deployed.

@Skypilot

@freemo You probably noticed that post is from Junior, not the orange man himself, right?

Junior is a possible contender for the continuation of their dinasty, there was a good article discussing that; maybe it was on The Atlantic. DJT's preference was for Ivanka, but Junior has been playing the audience on raliies and doing well apparently.

A scary though, this becoming a dinasty.

Books >> Video imo.

Film >> TV as well.

But it's opinions, like noses, everyone has one.

That is nice - well done, Casey. I think that will clear up the pages from clutter, they will load faster and do what a blog is supposed to do -- present your ideas, ideally without distractions.

I was thinking about you, upon realizing there's a CSS box in the write.freely user side interface; so you could set some settings there to have a personal space with colours and things, other than the defaults.

Have never used CSS or know anything about it, but it might come time to add to list of things to investigate.

I got the idea to try and do a local install of write.freely and after some hours of struggle the baby was born, lol. Can now do my post creation here, in house, and experiment with things without breaking my official public URL.

MySQL was a learning curve, but all new things do take some effort.

Ah, that is nice! Glad you found a place that is fitting well, Dale.

I think looking around like you did is a good thing. Have fun and keep in touch - we can all see each others posts in the . 👍

Yes, they are, I got an email from them and the account is active now. Been quite busy so I couldn't do much there yet.

App stats, very little memory used. There's also the MySQL running on the system, as a Service.

Command line running, show success loading config, starting up, serving page to local user. Yes!!

First screenshot of my locally hosted Write.freely instance.

That wasn't easy, took hours and a lot of tinkering for me, not used to MySQL and all.

But I got it. Wouldn't recommend it casually, in my case it's mostly to see how does the process work, and can use to write my blog locally, copy complete post to public host.

Documentation for installation is pretty limited, and for Windows users, worse yet.

But it IS possible. Maybe tomorrow I will think it's easier, lol. 😛

@sda

I took an insureance policy on that phrasing, SDA, by using 'tend to be'.

Your statement is more abrangent, are you sure that is the case for all newer automatic transmissions? A torque converter, used inside those units, has an inherent loss of part of the power being transmitted thru it, I believe.

Thank you to the users who reported a recent first post by a new account.

Removed offending posts and the account is disabled. Please report any posts you see that are inappropriate, so we can get around to them asap.

Back to normal service, enjoy. 😺

automatically follow

@freemo

That would be great, thank you!
@Sphinx

automatically follow

@freemo

I was curious of what the reason was for that.

If it's not a problem I would prefer to opt-out, if possible.

I think we should think of an automatic message to be sent to all new users upon entering the system, with some pointers. Maybe linking to Discourse Forum post with links, etc.

They are welcome to follow my account if they wish, but with this auto follow I can not set it to locked.

Thank you!

@Sphinx

Thinking of Roger Penrose and Tiles Pattern

Just now, this morning, at a Mastodon instance called Todon.nl, a user named benignstein (@activationfxn@todon.nl) posted a small series of Toots.

They got my attention, as they included some images of an intricate Tile pattern, so I started to read and follow the successive posts. All small in length, but when put together tell the story and get us into an uncharted territory, discovering new things.

@Sphinx I wouldn't be too worried about someone Unfollowing -- the ones that I think need attention are the new Followers, to catch any bad apples if you can.
