* Letter to a Friend on Christmas morning *

Just wrote a reply to a good friend, a penpal via the app.

She sent me a nice letter and was not pleased with the multitude of tabs in use in my too busy browser .

Now the story is on my blog: write.tedomum.net/rgx/letter-t

And I jsut received a really nice Japanese Crane stamp from a friend in .

Love it - thank you! Now responding to your letter.

Had to share a snapshot for the friends who dig the stamp collecting in @slowlyapp - another of the neat ideas in this project.

@SecondJon I joined there many years ago, paid a one time fee and have the account.

200 books is not much for someone actively collecting and reading, agreed. I had seen mention somewhere of how to get a free account with them -- will see if I could find that again.

They now have a mobile app, and that should ease adding new books, allowing isbn code scanning I imagine. I entered all of mine by typing them in at the time.

@Hedieh To access mastodon network? School blocking you?

I use and recommend Proton VPN, they offer a free account with a limited number of servers, but it works. Paid accounts get many more choices.

Goodreads is well know and popular. LibraryThing less so -- Although some (like me) might prefer it.

Less social, more books and info. Faerye has a blog post with her comparison of the Two - great idea!

Receiving @Snowden ‘Permanent Record’ is not only a great Christmas gift (@fruzske), it also carries double meaning to receive it in Hungary, where state oppression is rising, and citizens are less and less able to speak their minds.

Here’s to more freedom & privacy in 2020!

And if anyone hasn't had enough of Xmas for the year, how about this?

8 Hours of Department Store Christmas Music. No kidding.

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, nothing was stirring, not even a mouse. Of course not, I'm a fabulous mouser! (Pic from treasury_cat on instagram)

It's Winter and always a more difficult time, for many if not most here in the Northern latitudes.

There's hope in the promise of Spring.

Celebrate Solstice and Yule.

I mean, like I said in my introduction toot on this instance, I don't personally agree with the political choice to federate with all instances; just as I don't personally agree with the political choice to defederate from all instances that federate with Gab-like instances, because I don't espouse that level of political purity.

I've been spending more time on my personal instance lately, but I like qoto, there are definitely interesting people here and the personal moderation tools are enough to not see who I don't want to see. People who want to completely isolate hate in the fediverse are, strictly imo, not appreciating how difficult that is from an ActivityPub standpoint.

@realcaseyrollins Awesome! It looks powerful from all the controls you can see in the screen.

I use Irfanview all the time, it has lots of functions and is probably easier than Gimp, has done the work I need so far. Gimp has the advantage of being cross platform too, in Windows and Linux, while Irfanview is Windows only.

Should check the Paint.NET one, I have heard about it. And I did use MS Paint just the other day - to make a mockup of an enhanced Pinafore screen layout proposal/request to the author.

Well done, Casey -- I can;t believe how active and busy you are! 👍
