Alas, it's really annoying that :

- The original network posts the SNL show as a series of short little clips.

- same network says only USA ip addrssses can access these videos. 😔

@hrisskar Yes, that can certainly happen. The disinformation and radicalization of people (for political ends) can precipitate things.

We have a health pandemic without much of a treatment possible at the moment (other than life support via ITU and advanced equipment).

WE had a lot of people without much savings and many with large amounts of debt, and now an economic malaise/pandemic that will affect the whole planet.

Healthwise, and even economically, the less developed countries might be the most damaged (Africa comes to mind, how could they cope?).

These are historical times, and we have to wait day by day to see the latest developments. Sometimes it's hard to read the news, scanning the headlines is already difficult.

@hrisskar Thanks for the link; some people are using studies presented in the past, as in a pandemic was likely to happen since it did regularly happen in certain time intervals of time in the past. And we had gone many years since the last one.

The fact that Bill Gates made a presentation and funded a study via his family foundation is considered proof of a dark conspiracy. NWO is invoked, etc.

I watched a few minutes of this second link, and it's similar -- point to articles in legitimate media (The Atlantic, Bloomberg) and use a highlighter and voice over to post an anonymous video.

The problems is, people can take a lot of things seriously, and in a bad situation react with anger against whatever their attention got focused on. In the US in particular, a large number of weapons are in private hands, and any civilian disturbances can quickly turn ugly.

There's a real problem with the disinformation campaigns ran by right wing and their associated media, like the Fox channels and tabloids.

@maison_faim I agree, it's ideal to find one that is right sized - smaller than the huge ones like mastodon.social, where I imagine that making connections is as hard as in twitter, because of the avalanche of new posts continuously hitting.

But not too small, or the all important Local feed is too slow sometimes and forces us to go look elsewhere (my reason, besides curiosity, to set up accounts in various other instances.)

I heard about one that Chloe runs, forgot the exact instance name, but it's small and people come in by invitation only, selected by the admin for compatibility with the existing user base there. Based on Chloe's posts I have seen in the Feeds, I think I would like her place. (but no chance of getting in since they only have about 100 users and seldom invite more.)

Here we have a conundrum, apparently a big instance if you look at the user count of 10.700 or so currently; yet how many of those accounts are ever active? If we had 10 K users moderating the instance would be a nightmare, as in masto.social.

@hrisskar I imagine it's conspiracy theory run amok once again. There aren't that many deployments of 5G towers yet, and the list of symptoms in the image is very extense.

Likely a casual viewer will identify and feel one or more of them, and jump to conclusions.

@maison_faim I would like to see more friendly and active local posting, like we had in the past.

It provided feedback and incentive to our users to carry on and write, we got to know each other much easier and faster than people we meet in the larger feeds. Sadly that has been missing here.

Lots of disconnected posts, with no reactions or replies. Disheartening imo.

BBC News - Coronavirus: Boris Johnson says 'it could have gone either way'

And Mr Johnson had some very kind words to say about hospital staff to treated him :

"Mr Johnson, 55, was taken to London's St Thomas' Hospital on Sunday - 10 days after testing positive for Covid-19.

He spent three nights in intensive care before returning to a ward on Thursday.

He said in a video on Twitter that he had witnessed the "personal courage" of hospital staff on the front line.

Mr Johnson said two nurses - Jenny from New Zealand and Luis from Portugal - stood by his bedside for 48 hours at the most critical time and named several other hospital workers who cared for him this past week that he wanted to thank.

He said NHS workers "kept putting themselves in harm's way, kept risking this deadly virus".

"It is thanks to that courage, that devotion, that duty and that love that our NHS has been unbeatable," he said."

I hope this experience can help the Prime Minister better understand the situation and the patient's experiences.

@ARIES413 A nice idea, but maybe try to use only the older pennies, which are solid copper.

It slowly oxydizes, getting greenish, and that is soluble and what could help with the garden pests.
