@nbenedek@fosstodon.org Although I'm an advocate of , is superior for because it is more dynamic and more trustworthy. Anki's answer functionality is limited and you can't be sure the deck you've downloaded or put together is the correct one, whereas Duolingo has professional reviewers and also sources answers from its users (that the reviewers will verify). I also like to use for language learning.

@jays Tech so advanced it helps me save on heating bills!

@freemo Might as well get it out of the way:

@Chronotope @dushman @bonifartius I don't mind letting admin decide who or what to block. I am against them blindly outsourcing this task to strangers. The block list in question seems to at best be irresponsible, at worst toxic. So I'm glad I have a good admin who isn't using it—but I am disappointed that users of other, less discerning instances, will now be deprived unnecessarily of possibly meaningful connections because of the capricious whims of randoms.

@notspookypip Technically, is "a place that can never exist". The planet Earth does not contain enough of the base materials we need to make solar power for everyone.

Even if one ignores the reality of scarcity and the proper definition of the word utopia, the materials for solar panels are mined by oppressed peoples. A paradise does not exploit the oppressed.

Either way, it's a misnomer.

Honestly, the categorization of the #solarpunk vision as "Utopic" bothers the hell out of me as a Greek person. The use of utopia as a word has been a linguistic tool against optimism for as long as we've agree to hold onto it.

Ουτοπία (utopia) literally translates to "a place that can never exist", and our complacency to accept it as the opposite of dystopia is doing us harm by perpetuating this idea that a society built on "good" cannot happen; is impossible.

Believe it or not, there is a word for something which I believe describes solarpunk and our vision perfectly: Ευτοπία (Eutopia / Pronounced eff-topia), "the best POSSIBLE place" and we might as well adopt it

I still love my LG V60—it's the best phone I've ever had—so of course the corporate division responsible for it shut down—but this thing runs so 🤬ing hot that I could use it as a hand warmer in winter.

I haven't been able to find the perfect / app (for me) so I'm thinking of my own.

It's a very simple concept that I need to execute: automatically adjust sets and reps according to a strength-gains-stamina spectrum and automatically progress those numbers as the user improves.

It's such a simple idea, even I should be able to code an Android app for it.

(If I manage to follow through on this, then I can think of adding other functionality.)

@FBalloux @RBJ Servers are like friend groups. You can be a social butterfly and flit into other friend groups, if you like. You can even change friend groups if you find a friend group you fit in with better. I hope that analogy helps.

I was trying to write about the app and how it's really helpful for people with who need to memorize large amounts of information. Because it remembers how well you know individual , once you have the cards loaded into the app, you don't have to waste dopamine on organization and can just focus on . It's been an incredible help to me—whenever I have an impulse/reminder to , all I need to do is open the app. It's an incredible tool for .

@freemo @meeper @nova @sarvo @waifu This sort of thing is why I'm against shared blocklists. The practice is too open to abuse and too difficult to correct if there is a mistake. And it poisons the well ...

@IllBringYouFlow@eldritch.cafe Very :100_gay:

If you've been searching for something new to watch, and especially if you're into stuff, I recommend the new series. (The 1994 movie and the book they're based on are worth your time, too.)

@garyackerman Technical stuff aside, for Network Security, I'd have a section to highlight how networks are breached with the use of social engineering. Maybe that's not technical enough for your course? But it is important. Social engineering is the biggest vulnerability.
