@trinsec yup that is indeed the effect at play
@freemo its how bright the things around them are.
@Co its a bit more than that since blue and yellow are different colors and dnt just differ in brightness. But the effect is very analogous.
@freemo sorry phone is in b&w rn lol it showed either dark or white.
@Co yea the b&w version would.
Both have exactly the same pattern also.
@Pat sort of, they are both randomized by the same parameters. But being random they differ on a pizel by pixel basis
Actually, they are pixel by pixel the same. (my almost autistic pattern matching at work again)
@Pat after zooming in i find they do appear mostly identical, except there are a few small anomalies where they seem to differ by a pixel or two oddly enough.
Actually, the pixels in the area within the squares are the same, it's the background pixels in the blown-up image that are different. It looks like whoever made this graphic just copied and pasted the same square pattern in the two different locations over the background.
@freemo
Throw this at the next person who says "I don't see color"

@freemo Colors, plural I'd think. Probably both the same mix of yellow and blue. Visual fuckery created by the differing background colors.
I like that one with the chessboard, where 2 greyish pieces are actually the same color even though they look so different due to the different positions in teh shadowrealm.
