My girlfriend is trying to give me a hard time for drinking soda in the morning, claiming it will give me an upset stomach. Meanwhile she is feeding me eggs that have intentionally been buried in the ground until they go rotten and turn black.
...sips soda and stares at her...
@freemo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_egg is it this?
Looks like it.
Very common in South East Asia and considered a delicacy. Personally, I find the taste undesirable, but I don't need to force it to eat one. Typically, plenty of others are happy to take my piece.
Its common and cheap here. The yolks are suprisi gly creamy and good but the amonia smell is a bit of a put off. So im not sure how i feel.
@bonifartius yes
@freemo Pair it with preserved ginger slices! 😋
My grandmother buried a century egg in 1918. When I dug it up in 2018, it was petrified. So I tried again with a slight change to the recipe...
Eventually we'll perfect the recipe.
You can try it with tofu (the soft one).
Also, in some areas, people cover the egg with quicklime paste, then buried in the ground😋
@freemo I am pleased to be allergic to eggs this day.
@freemo
Buried egg calling the cola black?
