@letthewatersroar@toot.cafe I'm not saying there ist danger or racism. But a Nazi is a very specific thing, it is someone to is a fanboy of the third-reich and supports their ideas. Someone can be a racist who is as bad or worse than a Nazi and still not be a Nazi.

The reason i care is because recognizing this distinction is very important if the left wants to be taken seriously (something they have an issue with lately). Even if someone is legitimately wrong and racist when they are referred to as a nazi it looks immature and causes the argument to loose validity. But if we call them what they are, a disgusting racist, then at least people will listen in my expiernce.

@letthewatersroar@toot.cafe He may be a valid example then, id have to do the research, wouldnt surprise me, the right has plenty of racism.

@letthewatersroar@toot.cafe Not sure, I never looed into their track record to say if i agree or not. Did they advocate racial genocide publicly? Do they show swastikas with reverence? Have they praised hittler as a good leader? If any of that is true I'd be inclined to agree.

@letthewatersroar@toot.cafe I think you meant racists, not lteral nazis. Dont get me wrong in many ways they are just as bad.

lol, its funny cause it is true.I've seen so much horrible stuff to come out of ANTIFA. What scares me is how much more common they are than literal Nazis.

@hashtaggrammar In many ways. If you take physics down to its fundemental constants then its hard to answer "why those numers", moreover if we didnt have exactly the right numbers the universe woudnt work, there would be no planets or orbits or life. Just as an example.

@MOTT

@cm I know for me its the whole infinte recursion that gets me. Even if i follow physics back to its most basic elements I still need to ask things like "Why is the speed of light C and not some other value?"

@cm I think i see what you mean , the idea that something extrodinary must be an indication of something beyond randomnly emergent.

@Surasanji I've never been a fan of focusing on the word god in any meaningful way.

@cm

@cm I wouldnt say it is a matter of need but rather logic simply being applied to different sets of personal evidece combined with differences in bias. How much is bias and how much is logic depends on the person.

@Surasanji I dont see the need to do so here, if anything knowledge of science reinforces ones interest in the metaphysical, at least for me.

While I find truth in this statement I'm not sure many others would.

@MOTT Not in any appreciable amount. When i see a good deal that i coudl easily flip for more money (usually the seller doesnt know the value of what they are selling or just desperate to make quick money) then ill snatch them up from time to time. I try to stick to high quality ancients at or around uncirculated quality.

@freemo Yeah, it's a really, really neat exhibit. I haven't been there for years. I need to go back- I have vacation beginning of November, and it's an easy get for me. I'll go back to the museum and take some pictures and share them! :D

@Surasanji I would love that, would be epic. But dont go out of your way :)

I've been working on reading the papers that make up SuperLU (a direct sparse linear solver) and I stumbled across this list of freely available linear algebra software - good to have around!
