Again the permissive licenses, jut like the gpl, forbid you from turning a free software into a nonfree one. What it does is allow you to license your OWN code, your new contributions, however you like. The code that was released as free and open will always remain as such under any license.
The GPL takers away your freedom to do what you want with your code and your contributions, that is all. Permissive licenses however garuntee you keep such freedoms over your own contributions and code.
@masterofthetiger@theres.life
Yes in that sense the statement is an oversimplification. The point is if I modify it and release the new source code GPL not only requires me to release the new source code to the public but it also requires me to do so under the GPL and no other more permissive license.
Draw anything you want with nothing more than a series of rotating vectors thanks to the Fourier transform.
@drewfer LGPL is an improvement but still stifles contribution for much the same reason
@gunkslinger
Are you seriously trying to fabricate some bullshit like I didnt just talk about anarcho-capitalism 15 minutes before you asked? Lol thats some impressive delusion you have going there. Ok I'm out then. I learned from flat earthers long ago you cant change stupid.
@gunkslinger
Well if your the one repeating things I already mentioned earlier sounds like your the one that needs the nap.
@gunkslinger
A minarchism, by definition, represents the state as being, you guessed it, minimal. Usually covering just the night-watch needs. I made no claim that state need be minimal. Thus minarchism does not apply here.
@gunkslinger
Yes I mentioned it earlier in fact.
@anornymorse
I never claimed it to be a minarchism or even any other form of libertarianism. So no.
@gunkslinger
Depends my system wouldnt really be purely any model. But most of the ways I'd resolve that is simply to make governments opt-in.You choose what government you want to be a part of (the details behind this are complex) or no nation at all. Therefore you choose which tax/reward scheme you want as a result.
But how such a system works would take a while to deep dive on.
@orekix @a7 @anornymorse @gunkslinger
This is all quite amusing. I feel like gary reliving the debate in some nonsensical parody of itself:
@gunkslinger Well if you want my opinion on how to run a government how can that be useful to what is or is not a libertarianism then if my own view is not a pure libertarianism. If, for example, I liked the current system (I dont) how would that help us in our discussion of what a libertarianism is?
@gunkslinger Well your assuming that I'd argue for a pure libertarianism. I dont think pure ideologies taken to their extreme iteration is a useful or healthy goal for governments, even though I see libertarianism as the best form of the choices.
So while I would be happy to answer that question im not sure it would be relevant to the discussion.
@anornymorse Not sure how it is relevant that your 20, but i mean ok the definition i used is even older than you are then. But no, no one changed it.
@anornymorse What does the fact that the definition is older than you matter? Or did you mean me, cause you have no idea how old I am.
@gunkslinger That depends, lots of ways to do each of those options. Depends on which proposed libertarian system you want.
@anornymorse I'm not sure using the same definition as has been accepted for several decades now counts as "redefining it"
@gunkslinger
Nah, just figured how you went straight to be condescending as a substitute for substance that you're probably going to have to start easy. Thankfully a dictionary is usually pretty easy for most people to get their feet wet with an idea before you try to dive too deep.
@anornymorse Agreed, i find it silly. Libertarianism is basically any view that seeks to minimize governement. Beyond that there are as many flavors as you want really.
