@dansup It wasnt a complaint. I'd be more than happy to use incomplete but barely usable software if it had ActivityPub support. Hell if i could get pixelfed running id use it even just in the hope it might get that support. As a software developer I can make due with an alpha project usually.

@dansup If you like what the fork does then you can always just merge back anything they do. If you dont then they can always just merge in future updates from you. Forks help each other thrive.

@dansup I have been trying to figure out Anfora for most of the day. I got a docker image of it that gets it up but it doesnt appear to have any UI at all. I dont think it is even usable. Going to look at fontina.

@phantasmal_yearnest@octodon.social @starfleet I'll see what I can do.

@phantasmal_yearnest@octodon.social @starfleet what do you mean by unable? like you did it and nothing happened? I'm trying to figure out where the issue might be.

How mastodon feels to me

@saxnot As stated thats why you have #1 to fall back on in those instances.

@saxnot @wowaname The difference is that you can have multiple block lists maintained by different people. You can join none, one, or more. It doesn't bind you to the will of just your local admin. You effectively subscribe to the moderated lists you like and can override them as well. More flexibility.

@saxnot @wowaname when I say new accounts i dont mean necessarily all on the same instance. The point is if one instance is open and doesnt ban its members then account hoppers would be more abundant on those servers (obviously).

@saxnot @wowaname I agree, but as I said that idea only works if the migration feature let users take followers and their archive of posts with them

@wowaname Like i said I have no issue with private federations, just make sure you let users pick up their stuff and take it elsewhere if the admin doesnt welcome them anymore, or otherwise acts in a way the users don't tolerate.

@wowaname I can think of a few, but they are far and few between for me.

@wowaname I prefer a bit of restructuring. Eliminate the need/ability for server-wide instance blocks. Instead replace it with block lists. Users can opt-out or in at their leisure. Sort of like being able to turn a spam filter on or off, i can still get my spam, I just usually font need to.. Hell create a "moderated" flag that is hidden unless you reveal it as a user maybe? Lots of better solutions than leaving one person in control of who gets blocked for many other people.

@wowaname I agree with those points. But what if an instance is a harbor for people who constantly harass others? they can create new accounts just to circumvent bans. Whose responsibility is that to take care of, the local instance or the remote?
