i'm still mad about enterprise

@Taweret@octodon.social I recall bush justifying his own decision to approve of waterboarding (torture). Though as I recall the right and the left both had people who supported and denounced that choice.

In fact I was old enough at the time that I recall that was one of the first times both the right and the left were so sickening that I denounced both parties. It has just went downhill from there on many issues from the right and the left :(

i'm still mad about enterprise

@Taweret@octodon.social Intersting take, I never considered it in relation to 911 but I can see that.

Though not sure torture is on the right wing agenda :)

i'm still mad about enterprise

@Taweret@octodon.social Did you really think it was right wing?

Hey, internet! I'm planning my first piece of longform academic writing; any advice, considering i've previously written classwork essays under 3000 words?

Part of the reason I'm a little tripped up is because I decided I wanted the finished product to be widely accessible, because it's the sort of thing I'd have been very interested in about four years ago. (I'm very interested in it now!) While I know I can write plainly and simply with a bit of effort, I'm not sure how to make sure that I'm doing that and not writing . . . boringly? And, frankly, I've no idea how to check that the result Is accessible.

@tjemni That has more to do with americans stupidity and easily being brainwashed into wrongly thinking there is a 2 party system in the first place, when there is not.

Lets not contribute to that misconception :)

@tjemni Neither does america. There are multiple parties on the ballot every election and they all have equal opportunity to win.

@reyhan@chaos.social While that would be more factually accurate I think the meme would be lost on most people at that point.

There arent too many good upstanding liberals anymore when your standing in america. So its very refreshing to see these two, two examples of wonderful character so far. I miss the days when these people were a true representation of liberals, back when I could be proud of them.

Well at least in the netherlands the conservatives and the liberals are pretty awesome, so I cant complain.

@reyhan@chaos.social Well thats why its a meme and not a serious paper discussing the philosophy. You do realize memes are not rigorous arguments and are not meant to embody serious discussion (though it may spark such discussion).

In fact I think most people who see this meme would know marx's face is used more as a representation of socialist/communist philosophy rather than as a expression of Marx himself. Afterall what image could you pick that would more accurately convery the intention anyway?

@reyhan@chaos.social The truth here is not that marx explicitly said any one thing or another. The reference is to the arguments most pro-socialist people tend to recite during a debate or otherwise the general perspective they tend to preach. The vast majority of whom never read anything marx ever wrote anyway.

@reyhan@chaos.social Well it is obviously intended as a joke. So In that sense no.

But is there some truth in it anyway, of course, thats what makes it funny, and subsequently why you wouldnt find it funny if you happen to be mistaken.

Interesting fact about me: I was once the youngest person in the entire world!

@cambridgeport90 No harder than writing it in any other language really. C#, just like all propriety MS crap is a pretty shitty choice for a language but it isnt particularly difficult to write for it. At least as long as your ok with using windows to run your software (you can run it on linux but mono is buggy and no one uses it).

@tyil Yup just look at the Syncleus public repos on github or search for starfleet there
