Puff the magic dragon: A song about a little kid who smoked weed and as he got older he stopped smoking and his dragon friend commited suicide.

The moral of the story: never stop smoking weed or your murder dragons!

Next time people try to tell you how affordable homes were in the 1950s remind them, a modern day thermostat provides and contains more wealth than an entire 1950s home.

The boltzman brain idea had me realize something important... in any infinite universe where life is possible, however unlikely, **must** have life in it.

Add in limitations on light speed and if that life is sufficiently rare than all instances of life would be unable to observe any other instance of life.

All of my most prolific chance encounters have been with old dudes alone by a lake peeling an apple.

One such incident I recall and I still use his knowledge to this day. Never dont not listen to an old dude in the woods, they are wise as fuck :)

One of the algorithms I invented for my company is called GANDALF (its an acronym).. but for copyright reasons we decided to name our mascot "Gandalfo the off-white wizard".... someone asked me if he has magical powers, I said "Just one, the power to avoid copyright laws"

Oh the irony... apparently on rosa parks day buses reserved a seat in the front of buses that no one was allowed to sit in....

This resulted in blacks being forced to sit in the back of the bus due to lack of the normal seating in the front...

Points for effort I guess.

Am I the only one who does this...

I keep a mental list of two groups of people.

1) People who have been good to me

2) People I have wronged or hurt that I dont talk to anymore that I feel a owe a debt to.

When I have the oppertunity I try to give back to these groups when I am fortunate. #2 is a very very short list but always on the back of my mind.

Just a reminder, if a light is bright enough it will cause you to explode.. though it takes the light of a nuclear blast to do it :)

For years scientists couldnt figure out why things they painted black near a nuclear blast would blow up before the explosion reached it. It was refereed to as the "rope trick" because it was first observed from dark colored ropes spontaneously exploding in the light of the explosion.

Interesting fact of the day: Pandora's box was neither a box nor did it leave "hope" instead.

These elements were mistranslated. It was a jar, not a box. And instead of hope it contained "inaccurate expectations" after it was closed/

Remember, the early bird might get the worm, but the early worm gets eaten... stay safe, stay in bed!

@DrBonesMD

To illustrate your point im going to go around to homeless people and aim a gun at them and go "Give me a million dollars, actually nevermind you can keep it as a giveaway" then go home... then we can all praise me for giving million dollar giveaways to the homeless.

That's what I was thinking. You could probably replace radio with cheap books as well if you wanted to go back further.

And when it comes to marketing to kids, the 50's and 60's are without compare. Those two decades made everything before and after look tame.

If you ever thought TV was real or something to aim for, it's you who has the problem, not a faceless, definitionless "they" you've invented to justify your angsty, pathetic adolescent outrage.

Ever since I learned about guns I just cant watch movies the same... all I keep thinking is "how are all these people not completely deaf by the end of the movie". Hell I forget to put on ear protection just once and I cant hear anything for a day.

I think for my birthday im gonna do some edibles..... here we go.....

Carol Kane is in Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New worlds.

Weird choice for a Star Trek character, but I kinda love it, like a lot... I'm just like "Isnt that the chick that played along side Andy Kaufman"!

Loving this. They even wrote in her weird way of speaking to the plot that was great (wont leak that)

They also had a trans character in season 1 that was done quite well without making it "a thing", felt more natural and the way I'd like to see more LGBT characters handled, like just a character and not a big scene about it. I feel it makes it feel more common place and natural and sends a better message.

Anyway I have found their character choices to be a wonderful combination of progressive but still natural and well written.
