@avlcharlie How is it a oxymoron. All capitalism is is any system which includes free market trade, that is, trade in which natural supply-demand pressures dominate the markets pricing.

Nothing about that implies greed or altruism, it only implies everyone is trying to maximize their own fitness function (get the most utility for their resources). Its about effiency not greed.

To all my friends and future friends. Id like to wish you and your family all a rewarding and wonderful .

Just a reminder to non-muslims that today is Eid, the most sacred holiday for muslims. I know its easy to forget, so this is your reminder to wish your muslim friends a wonderful Eid.

@freemo@qoto.org National flight? I've never seen such a setup before. Granted, I've never flown first class before but this seems weird.

People tell me I'm smart. But im far too modest to accept that. No, its everyone else that must be morons!

@freemo
I wondered if that was the angle. It is an unfortunate but realistic view.

While not probable I still hold out that there is a possibility, however minuscule, that we can break that cycle.

I almost always do lie flat business class. Which is pretty nice and more or less first class. But today i decuded to fly from japan to bangkok doing first class to expiernce japans legendary hospitality in full. Feeling good so far.

I am avain pleasantly surprised by japanese curtosy at the airport. Apparently right before the crew comes to the gate (puntually one minute before the hour) thry all line up in a row and give a big biw of respect to all thr customers waiting, including the pilots. Thry then smile and wave to anyo e who makes contact.

Lovely culture to expiernce, i really do need to try to come here for a few months.

"You bought gun: 499.88"

Bwuhahahha, yea ok there buddy. Go scam someone else.

Its soooo hard for me to take any group seriously that can ask me to vote for Biden and in the same breath sincerely argue the man isnt senile. At least if they admited his obvious senility it woukd show enough self awareness of the party that i might even consider getting on board.

@freemo Oh, it's not exclusive to gay men. There are straight men who use that voice. Usually, they are referred to as "metrosexual". It's just that straight men have *significant* societal pressure to speak "normally" if they want to ever get laid or be employed, whereas gay men have the opposite incentive (at least for the getting laid part). I truly believe that *every* man has that voice inside him... just a matter of how close to the surface it gets.

As for the thing about trans women: many of them are seeking, above all, to fit in as their new gender, so they tone a lot down. But there are absolutely women (cis and trans) who are every bit as catty as the gayest men. Just watch any reality show on TV, lol.

I want to understand better the split between logographic and phonemic writing systems. As far as i know logographicnlanguages in the modern world are all asian and of a similar character. So id imagine they all have the same roots.

this new RFC 9564 is comedy gold: "Faster Than Light Speed Protocol (FLIP)" - this uses LLMs to predict what packets <would> be sent, thus obviating the need to actually send them. The Acknowledgements section is just... <chef's kiss>. rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9564.htm #rfc9564

I am sitti g in the Tokyo airport right now on a connecting layover. I must say the japanese culture is quite sweet, i like it. They are just so eager to help, and when you show any sign of respect (like cleaning up after yourself by putting away bins) thry all flock to give enthusiastic thanks... It really is quite nice, i think i need to stopnover here for a few months sometime.
