#physics #weather **UK gets the full blast** This is what I was talking about when I said they would get what they had last time. That's the 'full stream' pouring over them. Very nice winter pictures. Of course, this is 'extreme weather' predicted by 'clange'. I hope all their 'warm weather dancing' is keeping them warm. :)
#physics #weather **Washpost turns on forecasters**
“You have no idea come Dec. 1 what your winter is going to look like because our seasonal forecasts are so bad,” said Jeffrey Mount, a senior fellow with the Public Policy Institute of California’s Water Policy Center, in an interview. “They are just not reliable enough to make definitive water supply decisions.”
This is funny. And, of course, the guard turns to climate change, and 'they saw it coming all the time'.
**The Anti-Influencer** Even though my blog hits are a random spike, my brain went on a flight of fancy while walking the dog. Every influencer is a whirlwind of energy. How could I have an influence for the Scientific Method, while getting lots of money and not doing any work? I came to the conclusion -- No chance! So, the people are fed the pablum by hard-working influencers that ooze charisma. Those rains will stop for California and Australia, and I' walk my dog. :) ps. Here in Canada, the calicanes will cause an 1830 'Endless Snow'. Fun.
#physics **3d printing with AI**
https://www.yankodesign.com/2023/01/14/dont-buy-a-3d-printer-do-this-instead/
In a couple of years, the Good Dr. will be able to buy a 3d AI bobble-head of himself as a wizard. Right now, both AI art, and 3d printing are 'meh'. But, what great things can be done with it combined?
#earthquake #physics **Water-activated earthquakes** The earthquakes in Texas, and formerly Oklahoma were acknowledged, even by the powers, to be activated by water injection. If all those lined-up storms dump on California, the hypothesis is that there will be a noticeable increase in earthquakes. The odds of a big one remain the same as always. (just said to cover my sensitive parts). :)
#physics #weather **California** Just had a grandson chat on the ammie thing. They are in endless rain, sometimes an inch an hour. One side effect is that there are potholes on the main highway that can swallow your car. She blew out two tires, and you can't avoid them being sandwiched between two trucks. Luckily, she has the 'run flat' tires so you can limp home, but the downside is that they are tough to replace. The common idea is that it's all over in a week, and I said 'yes' to their hopeful faces. Really, it's a 96 year record broken. I'm not telling them they have weeks of more rain.
**Populist Science** I am so happy to be on qoto, which is definitely not populist. I really thought it would all be destroyed by now, and I was wrong. I enjoy 'Populist Science' but I enjoy the Scientific Method more, but that's for another day. I still think I have as many readers as my blog (breaking into double digits!) and that's ok. I attribute the fact that the populists have stopped using 'lazy rivers' for the California disaster, to somebody reading me. **Don't shatter my dreams!** I'm signing off for the morning, since my brain has to go into the deep dive for sleep tonight.
#physics #weather **Exxon Knew** This is conspiracy at its best. It implies that there is a table of evil-genius old men controlling the world. **In reality, they are stupid as dirt.** They were just 'riding the hockey stick' and over-extrapolating like everybody at the time. It's like ratcheting up the roller-coaster and extrapolating to the stars. Everybody does that, and the swoop down is always surprising. The actual world temperatures from NOAA show the rise to 2016. This is then shown as their 'accurate projections'. I'm not saying it's wrong in an influencer sense. They made a lot of money on this. Good for them!
#linux **Bluetooth mouse** When it goes glichty and stutters, just turn it off and on again. Took me a long time to find that advice, and it really works. I swear there's a leak in the driver.
Descended from Unix freaks, I evolved to Linux. Some people might consider me old at 60+, but I'm suing the world to get my age down to 30.
I have a blog https://ontario-geofish.blogspot.com/
and it is read by 8 people. My formal education is in an extinct branch of science called geophysics. Since there was no money in it, I went to engineering. I've done tunnels, radwaste thingies, etc.
