**Tech problems** My neighbours are very active 80+ and own a Mazda 3. It's a fob arrangement like my Toyota. The same as everybody, when one fob runs out of battery juice, they just go to the other one. Now, suddenly no fob works and they run to me. I showed them the key thing. Yeah! Then I took the fob apart (nasty) and the coin battery was bizarre, not in my collection. I had to do the overnight thing with ammie. Anyway, she comes running back with --there's no key thingy for the engine and trunk. So, you have to hold the dead fob real close to the ignition switch, and make sure the car is unlocked to open the trunk. whew!

ps. The last big creative cycle had all the monopolies collapsed - Fairchild, Xerox, IBM, att, government, etc. Right now, all the monopolies are super-powerful.

**Ukrainians get full Nato kit** And a full sound system! Ok, cut the crap, this is a full Nato operation, sans the jets, and nuclear artillery shells. :) Poots has started a massive production of conventional weapons, which were languishing before, because we couldn't get such cute photos. :)

**Anybody see the recession yet?** 'Money physics' is the study of fundamental forces. I'm beginning to think that if everybody and their dog thinks a recession is coming, then it won't, because they are all preparing for it. Big recessions are a surprise. I also think the 'post covid' industrial rush will flood us with cheap goods by the summer. Look at Tesla! Single burner induction plates are flooding us right now. They have thermal sensors. Cooktops are flooding at $500 but with no sensors. Right now, thermal sensors for a cooktop add $2000 to the price, when it is only a 10 buck addition. We'll see the effect soon. Cheap cars will soon flood us when they finally get the chips, any day now. Only the house speculators will suffer and they are mostly foreign.

#physics **Poop Cabbage** Physics tells us that the root membranes are effectively 'Reverse Osmosis Filters' Nothing gets by them. At our cottage (summer hut) we have a compost toilet and all the compost goes to growing 'Poop Potatoes'. I have this huge thermal compost bin in the back and it's hot even in the winter. I put all the dog poop in it. However, I also put in Miraclegro for the nitrogen. The physics error in the article is that there is not enough natural fixed nitrogen in the world to feed us.

#physics #weather **Calicanes are in stealth mode** On the standard satellite shot, these look like atmospheric rivers, not Atlantic hurricanes. That's because they are 'cold-driven' and do not exist in the standard vocabulary. I am amazed.

**Consumer Tip** On the light side, I got a Chinese-style hot pot for our upcoming 20 below weather. The combination on ammie cost less than a car. That's both a pot with a cast divider, and a small induction hot plate. **This is good physics**
The pot has an iron plate buried within, and all the heat is generated within the pot by magnetic induction. This leaves the burner free to measure temperature. You set the temperature at boiling and it maintains a perfect low rolling boil. I just cooked pasta on it with another pot. Anything made within the last 10 years will work, but the 30 year old pots need a check with a magnet. No stickee, no heatee.
Anyway, I am notorious for putting the pot on full heat and walking away. It always explodes. You set this to 212F and walk away. It comes to, and stays at a perfect boil. You put in the spag and walk away, and check it later. No explosions! I'm happy.

#physics #weather **Polar vortex in the news again** If we put this in terms of a SciMeth hypothesis then: The Polar Vortex, as defined only in the stratosphere, can drive weather on the surface. Again, this is ridiculous and breaks all the laws of physics. However, it makes good press. The stratosphere is effectively vacuum, and the air particles have very high velocity, but almost no energy. Like the sparks coming off a fireworks sparkler. 1000 degrees, but it won't burn you.

#physics #weather **North America cold blob becomes fully supported** Over in NA, we have missed the fun of 50 below intense air streams. Now we have one. I look first at mimic to see the speed of the front, then I look at the winds to see if it is backed up by laminar air flow. Finally, a look a the temperature. This duck has all three. But it is up against powerful heat flows from the Gulf and the west coast. Can it survive to freeze everybody? Stay tuned, or walk outside. :)

#physics #weather **Large storms continue to form and swim over to California** Looking at this mess only once a day, I now have no idea as to the sequence or who's who. This one looks to have a clear shot, right to Callie, and, as well, a new baby is born in the far west. A storm's energy is determined by the difference in temperature between the cold and hot streams. These storms are formed by intense cold entering the ambient warmth.

#physics #weather **North America finally gets the cold drip** The Arctic is a giant chocolate fountain pouring out its spouts. NA has missed it so far and the price of natgas was low. Now we have wide, slow cold air blob descending. Natgas price is zooming. We'll more things tomorrow.
