> Auto-antonyms are my new favorite thing :)

"cleave" is my long-time favorite autoantonym:

> Cleave
> 1. to adhere closely; stick; cling
> 2. to split or divide by or as if by a cutting blow

Police call for ban on anonymous pay-as-you-go phones

theguardian.com/society/2020/j

We're in 'dangerous dogs' territory here!

The current fascist Tory government, apparently much beloved by Hungary's Victor Orban - New Labour provided a grotesque lead-in - will do anything in its power to erode civil liberties and tirelessly advance the surveillance state. Recently It tried pornography and failed spectacularly. Now (surprise, surprise) it's back to the easy meat - DRUGS!

A police statement independent of the Home Office is possible, but is relatively rare in my experience.

The 'County Lines' issue is both real and serious, affecting the lives of many young people. The Police are on the frontline. But there's a different way forward, namely the decriminalisation and appropriate regulation of drugs with the lead being provided by evidence-based medical research.

The Greatest Anti-War Song Ever

And to quote "mac man":

"The raw emotion captured in this heartbreaking paean always reduces me to tears, like being hard wired into someone's distant tragedy. It seems inappropriate not to cry, not that i have much choice such is the spellbinding delivery. Seldom has an artist had such magical powers, and the ability to discharge them within a song."

Don't turn away! The UK has at present a Prime Minister who is a man-child idiot. A person seriously bereft of meaningful education whether in the domains of history, philosophy, science, technology, law. In short Boris Johnson is the absolute and ultimate joke!

Not only that, the man's also a prize brown-noser and a lapdog of the first order.

@iankenway Of course. I'm not prescribing anything.

Just trying to understand the political playing field and tactics being used all around. It's tempting to dismiss one's opposition but isn't always helpful in competition for the next race.

Introduction to Philosophy: Philosophy of Mind
"...It focuses on debates about the status and character of the mind and its seemingly subjective nature..."

Out of town for two weeks and thought this tab was intriguing. Where did I get it from? Then I noted that @clhendricksbc is the editor ;-)

It's an open textbook and I had left the tab open to remind me to read it.
