@sabbatical Weird, I have no notification for either of these replies… things are breaking… I bet it's on an annual hosting plan and one day will just disappear

"The history of technology, even exceptionally powerful general-purpose technology, tells us that as long as you are trying to fit capital into labor-shaped holes you will find yourself confronted by endless frictions: just as with electricity, the productivity inherent in any technology is unleashed only when you figure out how to organize work around it, rather than slotting it into what already exists." davidoks.blog/p/why-the-atm-di

@sabbatical I've been intentionally keeping an eye on things for the past week. I've had some intermittent issues with 500 errors, often fixed by a simple refresh. But I have not been able to post a photo any of the times I've tried…

All music has already been done and is also new and that is why music is the best

It's kind of wild that we used to store important information on a magnetic strip that we just kept in a pocket

@freemo @khird @barefootstache Hey are any admins on here still active? My profile has been 500-ing for some time now... becoming very frustrating. Can anyone help?

Could be database row corruption? Is anyone running maintenance commands etc these days?

Worst case, I could try moving instances but I doubt even that'll work if my posts can't even be pulled from the Qoto db/api...

Cut flowers are an interesting gift. Not cheap plus fleeting makes for a relatively high required perceived worth considering the value they provide. What other gifts are like this?

@mike When non-techy people make comments like this, I tend to respond with "you get what you pay for".

Sure, the cost per unit of various spec's might be less.

But just like buying a brand new 2024 Honda Accord instead of the just-released 2026 Honda Civic, you're buying a device that will be reach a point where it isn't supported by the manufacturer sooner. Not to mention reach a point where it doesn't look like a new model sooner, for those who care.

Then again, if it's for a kid who isn't the most careful with things, when there's an option for a refurbished Neo, I might lean that way…

@mike And then on the other end of the spectrum is me, with the dock be everything I'd ever open
