The pace of changes at Twitter over the weekend was not only challenging to keep track of & process, it was also very surreal. Evidence we are better off with a federated, open source communication platform. But of course I can’t name or link it on Twitter, or I’d risk a ban?! Crazy.

totally digging the Twitter archiver that @darius made. dump your Twitter feed, give the archiver your .zip, and it creates a browsable website of your account -- you can share old tweets, search them, etc. i was able to dump mine & completely hollow out my account in like 2 seconds

Just migrated over here and wanted to give a brief #introduction - I'm a molecular biologist and data scientist working at EMBL in Heidelberg. I work on analysing and managing single-cell transcriptomics data, train other scientists in bioinformatics and research data management and I am a science communicator with way more projects than time!

Great point. #twitter can no longer serve as a home for reasonable #Journalism #journalists , and in fact not for reasonable users in general. Electing Twitter as the platform of choice is an endorsement. Don't do it.
