@boob
For the purposes of this discussion I'm accepting your premise. He might as well have been so dumb as to render him incapable of expressing thoughts in any form. For a rational person this would be but a minor curiosity, yet another "victim" our natural tendency to create heroes and idols out of thin air. However for someone who is in that game of heroes and idols with political/ideological/religious agenda, this would be grand revelation, worth not only all the research and proof they can master, but also (why of course only just a pinch of) speculation.

There are no greater minds, there are just minds that happen to stumble upon something in a way that others happen to recognize at the moment.

@roka @Moon

@georgia don't expect yourself to match the mad skillz in the video, though do allow yourself to try and have fun. As for the authentication (joke) I'm sure just the number 4 would be enough.

@moeposter @Simpadoo @q @mscegination

@roka @boob @Moon you do not become famous by solely inventing something, you become famous primarily by presenting yourself and your invention to your community in an acceptable/digestible/useful way and secondarily - random circumstance. If it is an issue, it is an issue with fame and recognition in general not Einstein. It is an issue with Einstein specifically, only if you consider him a prophet of a rival deity, which is a delusion irrelevant to the community en large.

@alex
That's the whole point though. @fedisearch here aspires to be just as successful at exploiting their userbase in this network.

@fedisearch it's not an endorsement it's a list of compatible apps... obviously the ones on the notoriously anti-free-software platform are going to be proprietary. Apple store is incompatible with GPL, and making a permissive license project for their platform is asking for a proprietary fork that will just add a feature and sell better.

@fedisearch are you for real?

fediverse.party/

I dare you to find the one that is not under freaking AGPL license, spoiler alert - it's MIT.

Please contact the developers of each of these projects and ask them precisely "how much they love your proprietary software", then have the same discussion with the designers of activity pub. Free software culture is the backbone and the whole point of this entire network.

@fedisearch I don't think that there is anything that can damage your reputation more than being a proprietary service in this network.

Gotta love the monstrous JS tracker as well. For all the administrative purposes of course, soooo many administrative purposes.

"Internal search tracking"
"User ID"
"Content Tracking"
"Download and Outlink tracking"

@drq you'll probably just end up reinventing the wheels of usual programming languages, so the only sensible way to do this is a backend for a compiler (gcc, llvm) that produces something like verilog instead of assembly(probably exists already), and recompiling all the software... and then spend a lifetime optimizing the backend...

@iron_bug

Considering a generic function, that accepts a count of numbers (usual + - * / algebra) and returns their average (sum over count), what requirements make sense to be imposed on the number to allow division by count?

(count is 2 in example pseudo code)

1. explicit construction from a single natural number:
(n1 + n2)/number(2)

2. straight up a division operator that accepts a natural number as second argument:
(n1 + n2)/2

3. multiplication identity constructor/value that can be accumulated (using addition) to reach count:
(n1 + n2)/(number::one + number::one)

4. addition operator that accepts a natural number as second argument (assuming zero/default constructor available):
(n1 + n2)/(number() + 2)

@fedisearch fedisearch.com should burn in hell then ^_^

I wanna keep a jar of this metal-eating bacteria in case the robots ramp up their plans to destroy humanity ;) Bacteria that eats metal discovered by accident after 100 years

@Lwasserman @metapsyche dun dun duuun!

@cowanon @nerdman @Chazcon oh noo, the mighty ignore! I've been defeated *sniffs boxers*

@nerdman @cowanon @Chazcon I'm just going off this thread alone, no history either, though bracing for impact now >.<

@cowanon @nerdman @Chazcon obsesses over people talking about him - laughs at them for remembering him. tries to bully people through internet - laughs at cyber bullying. maximum galaxy brain.

#xoshiro is a family of #publicdomain (#CC0) pseudorandom number generators.

xoshiro (xor-shift-rotate) and #xoroshiro (xor-rotate-shift-rotate) are public domain #algorithms that shift state to produce very random numbers at high speeds suitable for insecure applications. The algorithms only use a few bytes of state and are suitable for embedded applications which require good pseudorandom numbers.

@tuxcrafting @boob @georgia @toast play brood war with trackpoint! lose to ai every time ftw!

@2ck the problem is that our physicists (total buzzkills) found that pretty much everything that we can preceptive (or are) as organisms is just one thing. That's how dumb we are. If the alien would be a creature of this one thing as well, then its perception and understanding of the world would have to be fundamentally very similar, as in its search for truth it would have to arrive, at some point, to a realization of that same one thing - a common ground, and the mathematics of that one thing described by us within that same one thing it will inevitably eventually discern and understand in whatever way it does. Otherwise a creature of some other thing would be absolutely imperceptible to us outside of some lab equipment, at which point, if it would also not speak math, we would never recognize it.
